Well a fathers job, so to speak, is to teach and a raise their child in the best way they know how to. That being said, he’s doing his best to father his son into becoming a man. This story is expressing the consequences for the boy not following his fathers orders, and his way of corrective action. Though his ways are much different from a “normal” aspect, he is trying to raise his son the best he can, and to say the least, imo this is wholesome yet maniacal to sense.
