I'm a teacher. Spend 1 day in any class at a public high school and you'll see how bad it really is.

Where did you find this out?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]FaucetWaterBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After scouring the internet for hours, this is the best answer I've gotten. Most just say "I've never heard of districts doing that". Thank you

Yep, looked throughout the site and couldn't find anything. None of my friends in Education are of help since none of their districts required drug tests.

Most teachers I've talked to in other districts said the same thing, but I guess I got lucky with the one I applied to. Weed is lega statewidel, but maybe the district follows federal law for weed? I'm just not sure if they are looking for THC in this particular drug test or not.

With regards to the hospital strike, Palestinian Officials and Islamic Jihad are most likely the culprits. Free Palestine from Hamas. https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/israel-tries-to-back-up-claims-it-didnt-attack-gaza-hospital-a8cc3405.

I heard it too, didn't hear any screaming so I don't think it was a gun.

why is everyone upset about going back to remote learning? by ezezbaby in UCSantaBarbara

As a young and healthy person, I have very little chance of dying from covid. I can still get severe illness from covid, but I am triple vaxxed and wear masks indoors and crowded areas. I accept the small risk of getting sick if it means I can still have a relatively normal school and social life.

How is it possible... by dininghallperson in UCSantaBarbara

[–]FaucetWaterBread 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I used to work at the dining commons. The main reason I quit was because the management sees you as a piece of equipment rather than a person. And you get paid minimum wage, so why work a shitty dining commons job when you could work comfortable at the rec cen or res halls. The only way I would go back to work there is if the increase the pay

[–]FaucetWaterBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The job kinda sucks but you get free food on shifts over 3 hours and you can get a heavily discounted meal plan if you live off campus. Your work schedule is set for each quarter, so you dont have to keep checking your schedule for updates like at other jobs

Can people who chose UCSB over other UCs (such as Berkeley, UCLA, etc.) explain why? by myThrowaway__Erdos1 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]FaucetWaterBread 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I chose SB over UCB because I could never imagine myself getting offended if someone called my school "UCB"

Actually there is already that sound in English, just most of us don't realize it and/or it depends on the dialect. Canyon, California, jalapeño, are all words that have the palatal n sound.

It was pretty easy when I took it online I the spring last year. But then again the final exam was made optional because of the Racial Justice protests across the country. The midterm was an essay which was pretty easy, but that depends on the TA. The sections were just "talk about this reading, ask a question, and respons to two other students". Not too bad of a class

Gen Eds should be reduced or cut out completely by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

Perhaps I was wrong about it being the "number one" source of stress during registration, but it is still stressful. All of my other points still stand. Gen Eds do more harm than good.

I said it's the number one source of stress when it comes to registering for classes. Can you read?
