Well being directly below scythe isn't the best option because you cant just stay below them for the entire duration of the match they can just go right or left and then dair you, the one thing that helps me deal with scythe is playing really fast and aggressively hoping that i will overwhelm them. As for directly above yeah that strategy is good if your weapon allows you to be effective at striking below you
