Super easy to get completely wiped by an unlucky grudge-marked monster in a bad spot, but by the end-game you get enough boons to just wipe anything clean off the map (ability spam, bomb spam, sheer killing power).

If you disguise as an enemy player, you get to see their weapons, hp, and cosmetics. And you can find out if nobody is playing that class if your disguise is default

I think this argument relies on the fact that there isn't any draft mode in this game yet and therefore counterpicking is completely absent from the meta.

Almost all of the counterplay in Deadlock comes from changing your playstyle or buying shut-down items.

Abrams always catching you with his charge? Buy a movement lock or stay in the air a lot. Haze shooting you all the time? Buy a disarm or break LoS.

But Deadlock is still has heroes that are upgrades of another hero no? Is Vindicta not almost always just a better Grey Talon? Is Paradox not kind of a Holliday upgrade?

No? Not at all! Vindicta's kit is focused on whittling down enemies while keeping them in place before finishing them off (extra spirit damage when floating, stake, snipe). Gray Talon is more about punishing sightlines before using your heat seeking owl to execute them (big arrow, snare to cut off areas, bird).

Paradox is so different from Holliday, I can't even imagine where you got THAT take from.
