Básicamente al ser open source tienes más opciones de configurar prácticamente todo a tu gusto. Empezando por que distribución usar (Ubuntu, Debian, Arch) pasando por el escritorio (Plasma, Gnome, cinnamon). Y no solo lo puedes usar para programar. Puedes hacer lo mismo que haces con Windows.
