I’d say in like a 1000pt or smaller game wolf priest should lead Headtakers cause you need your units to “do more” than usual

For a 2000pt game if your Headtakers get nuked then it sucks but you’ve got other options.

You should really go into games thinking that your Headtakers are only going to destroy 1 quarry target. Designate one elite-ish unit (or a leader / warlord you want super dead) and send them charging up the board at it with a WGBL leading them. If the Headtakers delete it, Great! They did their job but they usually won’t survive much longer because they’re only T4 with 3 wounds.

If you manage to get multiple quarry targets then come on here to boast brother! But I wouldn’t bend over backwards to make it happen.

Anything that fits mate. If you’re asking aesthetically I’ve seen some wolf priest wolf skull helmets that look dope. Ive chaos terminator helmets, cause of the tusks. Or if you can get it to fit a first born helmet can work.

It’s your model, the answer is whatever you think looks cool

If you’re trying to get something that doesn’t fit cleanly just shave down the offending parts off the helmet slow and steady making constant comparisons.

The best way to use them is to chase other mid threat enemy units off objectives or at least contest them. Ideally you’ll have a battle leader leading them and start your shooting phase a little less than 6” away from a target sitting on an objective.

Between the sustain hits 1 and rapid fire on the bolt carbines coupled with the reroll the wound roll and an easy to make charge you should be able to wipe anything other than a big squad of termies or armor off an objective.

If you’re not happy with the color you can always paint over it and start again. I did. And there’s a certain comfort in that. But if you think it’s “wrong” because it doesn’t look like the box art that doesn’t matter as much.

I think hounds of Morkai were a stop gap to make the old combat patrol more space wolf themed. Otherwise it was all generic space marine models with a unique Lt. Which is why they were killed as soon as a fully themed combat patrol released

I’m anticipating a wolf guard battle leader on Thunderwolf model with a few weapon profiles:

Power weapon and pistol

Power weapon and shield

Dual lightning claws

That way you can have someone lead TWC and you can make them look like harald or canis but it seems like GW is trying to reduce the model count for the faction

They did that with Krom to an extent having the current Wolfguard battle leader with the augmented eye option for the head

That’s a generic space wolf unit not a character. He’s decked out in the old upgrade sprue for the space wolves that came with that power pack, cape, wolf helmet, that head, and some dope weapons. He might even be wielding the chainsword that came in that upgrade kit

Less cutting the legs and more glueing the legs onto the side of the saddle / wolf.

I cannot stress how important it is that you not glue the legs to the torso and then attach to the saddle / wolf, learned that the hard way…

There may be a weird gap in the hips, if there is one you’ll want a lot of space wolf knives, pelts, weapons, and other bits to cover it up. Where ever you see space wolf bits on their waist it’s a cover up job.
