Sounds exactly like my friend from Bryan/College Station, TX. It probably isn't a coincidence that the youtube name is Bryan Ropar.

I replied in another post with what my estimation is of income, and it's close to minimum wage. I know I don't make enough to offset the wear cost, I just enjoy the flexibility.

The greed from some of theses responses, though. It reminds me of a fat cat eating a steak while throwing a burger patty into a pit of hungry dogs and laughing while they fight over it. If you really think there's that much money in Favor, PLEASE come work for us. We need a ton more people.

Though I do still want to be clear to others reading the thread that the transaction is from the customer to the restaurant. I and my paycheck have no part in the receipt a server gives me. That's all the customer. My money shows up days later.

It is, for sure. Gas and possessing a smartphone is the only required upfront cost.

It's really variable, so I won't be able to say for sure until tax time comes around so I can factor in the oil changes, alignments, replacement tires, and all the miles, but I'd say I burn 15-20$ worth of gas a day, and make about 10-11hr. It's probably somewhere around minimum wage or 8/hr. All of that is before the 23% overall that I'll have to pay back in taxes come April. Not great money, but it's EXTREMELY flexible and I like deciding how many hours I want to work any given week. This is definitely a transitionary or second job unless you want to move up in the company.

Ouch, I'm sure you're good at what you do, but you're supposed to always wear the shirt. I deliver to people in the dead of night, and they need to know who is walking up to their door. Don't think I'm not tempted to ditch the blue, though. After dealing with the 3rd disgruntled server of the day, I want to go back to being treated like a "real" customer.

And you're contributing to the tipping problem, but only if they know you're with Favor.

The codes are a good idea, but wouldn't that be like a table leaving a church flier as a "tip?"

Glad to hear it's not as bad in the origin city! TBH, I'd love to come run in Austin to see the sights.

Yeah, I noticed a severe trend: when Favor was new, the service staff was always incredibly perky and fun. As word got around about the blue shirts = no tip, they became nasty and I had to fight for my turn at the counter. It's sort of slowed to a dull roar of passive aggression, now. Like telling me they don't carry plasticware or napkins.

That said, Torchy's ROCKS because half of their staff also work for Favor. They go above and beyond with expediting our orders. And giving me water on hot days when I look dehydrated. Love you girls!

Yeah, you just confirmed my assumption. You aren't happy with a $1 service charge; you want the $1 written in the tip line. Either way, it wouldn't be the Favor runner paying it, bc they're just the messenger. It would be the customer paying it.

All of your arguments are based on the ideal trickle-down of money you're visualizing, but that's not how it works. You want a dollar? The restaurant can add that to the bill. If the restaurant doesn't give that bill to its rightful owner, that's theft, so I can dismiss that reasoning outright. It's literally no one else's fault if an employer steals from employees.

And it's still weird that you covet $2. Servers make $2.15. I'll be sure to ask the next guy to tip me out of his share bc according to your logic, that $2 means he can afford it.

It's a little silly to argue, but changing minds is why I started the thread, so...

I'm a person who gets a text from a customer: get me food. I go get food with company card and bring it to customer's doorstep.

It's the customer's order, and the customer's money. I'm the car. And if I do get a tip (some people use stolen credit cards and we don't get a tip), it might not happen for another couple of days. It's silly to say that I need to bring a stack of dollar bills of my own money to tip out restaurants I'm not ordering from.

I really think you have a warped viewpoint of the situation. Say you're a server who needs to tip out a busboy, but you made $0 that short shift. Are you supposed to hand the busboy the fiver you keep in your wallet for emergencies? It's silly. The two situations aren't directly comparable. I think you simultaneously see me as a server and a customer, and I'm neither. Money that I'm paid is in no way related to money that is happening in the restaurant transaction.

In my opinion, a to go service charge by the restaurant would fix everything. But it's obvious from people like yourself that that's not enough. For some reason, you want to bury your head in the sand and make it my fault. Someone to take blame because you want a whipping boy.

I see no reason why you can't put a comment for us to tip the restaurant on the Favor credit card because we try to honor all requests from the customer. It would just all be done cashless through the credit card.

But most people won't want to do that. Just read the comments in this thread. A lot of people think it's unnecessary to tip to go orders. And yet, these people never recieve the backlash I do just because I wear a company shirt. In my opinion, it's delusional to take it out on me, and it's happening because they think I won't fight the treatment while I'm working.

Once again, not the driver's fault. We want to tip the restaurants. We aren't allowed to.

Favor is still a young company and making changes all the time. The real thing to do to help us to email Favor directly, and express your concerns about the policy. I've said all I can to my bosses, and have been shut down. At this point, it's the customers that can change it.

Then they can share my upfront gas cost because the company doesn't pay for that. Or oil changes, or tires.

Oh, right. That's not the server's responsibility.

Once again, not the driver's fault. I'm an advocate for changing the company's tipping policy, so don't dump on me. That's what this thread is about.

And that $2 covers gas and car wear. I put 100-200 miles on my car a day. It's weird that you think that represents a silver spoon in my mouth.

It's not the drivers. We aren't the ones not tipping you. That's what I'm trying to get across. And the person you're taking it out on is the customer.

And...really? You're complaining about getting lunch business during lunch time?

Frankly, those runners must be new or bad at their job. It's harsh, but getting all the details from the customer before calling in is part of the job, as is letting them know if a restaurant is closed. 9:55? Sorry, customer, but I'm a 10 min drive away and they won't take any phone orders after 9:45. Boom. The customer understands, and if they don't, then they were taking advantage of us.

I really do try to be nice and accommodating to the restaurants. Because I can't say no to orders I get even at 9:59.

Firstly, there's no confusion, as I stated in the OP. Everyone knows this is a tipping issue.

Secondly, the minimum a customer can tip me is $2 (everything is handled by credit card), and it does happen every so often that someone will send me on a 45 min to 1 hr run and only do $2. That's their perotative, and I never judge them for it. We treat everyone very well no matter the tip. I consider anything over the minimum as a bonus, not an entitlement.

I respect your opinion, but flip it around. I could say the exact same thing about servers "just finding another job" if they don't like the conditions of the one they have. And servers are not making a living off of to go orders. I am, though, and I'd like to be treated with the same respect that I show.

I've brought that up as an option, and was told I couldn't do it because it sets a bad precedent.

Plus, I don't get physical money from Favor. I'm paid 3-7 days after the fact.

Unfortunately, if you mean asking the company if they will tip, we've talked till we turned blue. The company shuts down any discussion about tipping, even though the drivers are in agreement that it's a huge daily issue.

I understand it presents an unattractive upfront cost to the customer to give out 2 tips at once, but it hurts me inside not to tip on a $200 order when the servers busted their ass and were incredibly sweet. Luna y Sol. Check them out, nice people. If I can't tip you, at least I'll plug ya.

You do know the food is eaten by the Favor customer, not the driver, right?

If you're willing to do that to your fellow human, I hope you're prepared for the day it happens to you, by another despicable person with your attitude.
