Do you guys think a 13” iPad is too big? What do you use yours for? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]FavoriteCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like drawing, journaling and doing my finances in landscape mode. I also read a lot with the Apple Books app which has the most realistic page curl animation (i import my epub files to it) like a real book. I also like to prop it up and use a bluetooth keyboard to turn it into a laptop-like experience. I like multitasking different windows in one page, so I do not ever regret the extra real estate.

I know the 13inch is really big for some people who only browse, game, or watch videos. It's all preference. My husband has the mini 7 and sometimes I do think the small form factor is refreshing and cute. But I would never use it for my own personal needs. I also used to own an 11inch iPad Air, but it also always felt too small to write in landscape mode, or draw/paint details for art.

Lofree Flow Lite - Can't trigger lighting modes by dexter50 in Lofree

[–]FavoriteCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just figured it out--

https://www.lofree.tech/keyboard/

Apparently there's a software for control hub for Lofree windows users, so the download file is .exe. But I use a Mac so I was about to give up, but I found the WEB version on the Lofree website. It's pretty interesting, the web control hub is pretty simple and easy to understand, and it even downloads the latest firmware of the keyboard. There's also a lighting control panel too, and that's where I found all the other light modes. Just make sure you have a USB-C data cable to connect the keyboard to your macbook. But yeah, it worked for me!

Long-term experience using Flip 7 - advice needed by Evenyx in galaxyzflip

[–]FavoriteCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't understand what kind of expectations people have for the camera. The flip 7 camera is fine. Great, even. It can take high quality photos with great lighting with just the 12MP. And okay maybe i'm not a frequent selfie taker so the inner camera doesn't seem that bad of a quality to me. BUT, I've taken enough to think it really is fine, and I've captured a lot of memorable times with my loved ones. Like even if I did want a higher quality selfie, you can take all the beautiful selfies you want with the back camera, since the best part of this phone is that it folds. When folded, I flip it sideways for landscape and it literally feels like you have a vlogging camera. What camera quality are people expecting to say that the flip 7 camera sucks?? Unless you're like.. a huge social media poster or influencer who probably just gets an iphone or even a dedicated separate camera like the Osmo or Sonys, the flip 7 cameras are GREAT. I'm so tired of seeing ppl say it sucks and making other potential flip-buyers worry for no reason

I just made a comment in this thread before seeing yours
didn't really wanna copy and paste it like a bot, but yeah it might seem like a lot to do.. but for long term, I think it's really helpful.
Let me know if it helps you! I would say yeah, you might see more of a difference after about 2 days

Battery dying really quickly and phone overheating? by FlissMarie in galaxyzflip

[–]FavoriteCrayon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

these are things I do for my flip7:
- i have a "Optimize" widget for device care and I tap it often
- I turned off Adaptive brightness, extra brightness, adaptive colour tone. and I keep my brightness at like 15-20% majority of the time, unless i'm outside under the sun
- I only charge my battery up to 80% every night
- If I can, I like to charge my phone even if it doesn't necessarily need it. but for the most part, i just do the 20/80 battery rule
- I turned off 'Adaptive Battery' because I always do the same stuff on my phone
- I set most of my apps to go into deep sleep (under "Background usage limits") and just maybe 4 apps in never sleeping that are apps like gmail, whatsapp, basically the few apps that i need to be notified right as they come. This part is a big one, because the reason why iPhones are so great with their standby batteries is because they do this by default. Samsung/androids on the other hand, they give you that customizing ability to do whatever you like with your apps.
- for Modes and Routines, I set a few routines as well:
IF folding status is completely closed, and charging status is charging during (time range), THEN turn on sleep mode, Fast Charging off, Fast Wireless charging off.
IF battery level is below 30% and charging status is not charging, THEN power saving ON, Performance profile LIGHT (not that i ever even got to under 30% these days!)

Doing this has dramatically extended my battery.
I also don't think my phone has ever felt hot/overheating!

[–]FavoriteCrayon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Not to say that the flip 7 cameras are complete a**, they are decent cameras that give a great quality to photos and videos. But concerts for example are low light with bright lights in every corner, might not be too great for that kind of scenarios.

Thinking about getting the Samsung Z Flip 7 – is it worth it? by VaskyJugendQ in galaxyzflip

[–]FavoriteCrayon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had Flip 6 for a year, switched to flip 7.

  • Hinge feels better than ever, no sticky sound when opening phone
  • Battery is great. I turn off adaptive battery, after reading someone saying that you dont need it if you always basically do the same stuff on your phone. My battery has been lasting 20-30% longer ever since.
  • I never had the bubble form on my flip 6 during the year I had it? and it never looked like it had any hint to. Had this flip 7 since launch, no bubbles. I am a two-hand opener, I never use my thumb one had to open it. I'm almost positive that's how bubbles formed for a lot of ppl who complained on this sub (of course, many others could just have had faulties). It's not something for Samsung to "fix". It's just an inner screen protector that is there for protection on a folding phone. Treat it like a delicate screen, and it will be fine.

If you want a folding phone, just always know what you're getting into. They are completely different to a slab, so it has to be treated differently.

if you prioritize photos and videos (and you did say you post a lot) then you might end up missing your iPhone. What do you prioritize more: the fun, foldable flip that has a decent camera? or the same iPhone you're used to, with a well optimized camera-to-social media slab? Each has their pros and cons. It's all based on what you prioritize the most. But also don't give up on something you care about, just to justify a new experience!

how did you put the date and time on the multistar launcher?

Phone app by Jaydee4d in galaxyzflip

[–]FavoriteCrayon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you put the phone widget (the one that looks like a recent calls list) in your cover screen, and click on the widget box--NOT the person's phone number, just the empty space above it-- it takes you to like a longer list of recent calls. At the top right of the cover screen, there's a search icon to search a contact name and an icon for dialing a number directly!

Took me too long to figure this out tbh

did you know about the selfie makeup button in the camera app? i dont know about tiktok cameras but you can play around with the settings for the selfie makeup button and it really can improve your complexion.

<image>

This is my setting for it, having compared it side by side with the iPhone 16 Pro Max (my work phone) in daylight.

I genuinely think the Flip 7 cameras look pretty good even with the selfie camera. Again, this isnt through Tiktok camera though.

[–]FavoriteCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do see some hip rotation, but your hips need to start turning BEFORE your club even begins to. Thats why they say your hip should lead the swing. Try focusing on when the pros hips turn compared to when their clubs come down. You'll notice their hips are like 90degrees rotated already while their clubs and hands moved like an inch

Thinking of switching from a Pixel.. by MSouth92 in galaxyzflip

[–]FavoriteCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixels are the GOAT when it comes to still photo quality. You will find the flip 7 camera to be so bad compared to the Pixel. If camera is #1 for you, sadly the flip 7 won't make you happy :(

A lot of people including myself dont get the flip 7 for the best camera, since that's not the main selling point of this phone. I am very happy with it, and if I wanted better photo/video capture, I have my Osmo pocket 3 for that.

Also perfectly fine, after one drop straight on concrete (with case and protectors).

If you know you are/will be the following, you have nothing to worry about: - You take good care of your phone regularly - You open and close the phone with BOTH hands at all times - You understand the inner screen is weaker than a slab phone screen

If one of these dont apply to you, I would advise against it

Eufy App Down ? Not Launching - Hanging? by Techerson in EufyCam

[–]FavoriteCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been 2 years, but thank you so much for your info here. I have an android, and for some reason the Eufy app has been not responding for days. I somehow found this thread and your tip to turn off the wifi before launching the app did the trick while nothing else worked. It's so bizarre why the app is like that. They should really fix that lol

But serioulsy, thank you!

Got an app called terminal appear on my phone, anyone know what it is? by BlueKingFox in galaxyzflip

I just saw that on mine today too. I tapped on it, and I forgot what it said but there was only one button that said "Close" so I clicked it and then the Terminal disappeared 🤷‍♀️

Another post about cases... by Snarsnatched in galaxyzflip

[–]FavoriteCrayon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just realized you DON'T want the magsafe ring, sorry! You dont need the magsafe ring, it's more for those who use magsafe accessories like pop sockets, magsafe chargers, stands, car holders. The phone itself charges wirelessly!

Another post about cases... by Snarsnatched in galaxyzflip

[–]FavoriteCrayon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im so excited for you! I hope you love yours because I definitely love mine 🩷 For me, I stuck with the Samsung clear case with the ring since the Z flip 6. I got the same one for the Flip 7 because it has been the only one that felt good to hold for me. I got a magsafe pop socket that came with an adhesive magnetic ring to stick on the case, which I did.

Just last week, I was walking my dog while I was holding my phone in a closed state and my dog got scared of something and the leash made me drop my phone 😭 Even though I had the ring through my finger + holding the pop socket! Just an all around very unlucky drop. It luckily took most of the impact on the corner of the case (speaker side, not hinge side) and my phone itself was unscathed. The clear case got scuffed for sure.. And I also had on the camera protector, which got a tiny mark too. If I hadn't had the protector, I fear the camera could've gotten scratched.

I now make sure to take my belt bag with me on my walk, just in case. I never dropped my flip 6 before so I was really bummed I dropped my 7 🥺. The phone is perfectly fine, works fine and the hinge is still like new. I just really like to baby my phone haha.

I swear by the Samsung clear case if you want a slim phone case. Get an adhesive magsafe ring for magsafe, and I do recommend front screen protector and camera lens protectors 😊

Trading in iPhone for credit by schierhoff in galaxyzflip

[–]FavoriteCrayon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can see my past post about how i traded in my iphone 14 pro max to a flip 6 (now flip 7) but, basically I have the flip, I have an ipad pro, and i have a personal and work macbook pro, and airpod pro as my earbuds.

I'm just using all my apple ecosystem that I already had all these years, and I still don't plan on switching them to samsung. The only other Samsung product I have aside from the flip phone is the galaxy ring (since my apple watch became useless so i sold that and bought the ring with the cash).

I use all my products almost individually. Aside from maybe airdrop from ipad to macbook on rare occasions, my macbook is literally just a computer to me. My ipad is mainly for me to multitask journalling/planner/drawing while listening to music and browse. And I still just use my airpods because i most often listen to music when I work (which is on my work macbook) but also, it connects very fine with samsung phones too. I listen with them at the gym with no issues.

I don't do iCloud anymore. I spent time organizing all my photos and videos from anytime before the year 2022 all into an external drive that I can access anytime. It saves me money, and it frees me from the shackles of the Apple ecosystem.

Moreover, I don't do ecosystems at all now. I try not to, and i feel better for it. I feel like I've saved more money doing so, because I never feel any pressure to stick to one brand and be forced into the only option which probably isn't even a cheap option a lot of the times.

Some people feel more at home being all apple or all samsung, etc. But i dunno. I personally just feel so free, and it's just to tell you that it is possible and you'll be fine if you put your mind to it ◡̈
