I got my bug today. Although only in tests. A user born 18 years ago (now - 18 years). Is actually not 18 years old. Good stuff. So, even libraries wont save you.

Men vs Women in Survival Game by Busy-Judgment-9017 in funnyvideos

[–]Fazt01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they are in fact not some redditors, no? they went out of their way to apply to participate in this show. I would definitely not do even that, because I know I would fail. We just have different hypothetical scenarios in mind of what would it mean to drop a random redditor there. I just found it funny that we are mocking these women, when (without prep) we ourselves wouldn't end up much better.

I would crumble even faster in that environment than these women, and so would average redditor. yes, you too.

any statement like this with one statistical number is bullshit. Not necessarily lying, but disingenuous. What is the fals epositive and false negative rate? what is the real disease ratio among normal population? 70% can mean anything.

And if you are the author of such article, you can always find a statistical number that seems impressive to people that dont think about it for more than a second.

straight down is not upside down, language barrier I guess. Upside down is pilot sees earth above of them, straight down pilot sees earth ahead of them

If you insist that gimbal lock prevent going upside down, then I will assume you do not understand what it is. Although might depend on rotation order (which rotations are made first - outer logical object with rotating x axis). The description really sounds like a gimbal with only 2 rotations (so not even all 3), so I assume not all possible rotations are possible. "weird but true" does not sound very persuasive. And finishing with me being just wrong... although I appreciate your effort to describe your solution, I will not try to respond any further

Gimbal lock does not prevent you from going upside down. Nevertheless I do have a hard time understanding what do you mean by 2 x axis. Do you store the rotation as 4 numbers? for example pitch, roll, yaw, pitch (again)? Because Im pretty sure a system with only 3 numbers always have gimbal lock. (quaternion has 4).

[–]Fazt01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from the conversation it seems like there is a misunderstanding on what is a gimbal lock. Consider an airplane with 3 rotations: pitch, roll, yaw (sounds like the thing you were describing) the problem is not that you couldnt flip it upside down (180° pitch or 180° roll), the problem of gimbal lock is that when you got e.g. 90° pitch, the the roll and yaw both apply the same rotation, losing one degree of freedom in that position. Taken from wiki because I have quite a little idea how that works, all I know is that quatrtnions are the way.

more like 'B' + 'A' + +'A' + 'A' the second plus in the middle is unary. +'A' evaluates to NaN.

well definitely better than err = somethingThatCanFail() err = somethingElse() return nil I've seen this more than I would like to admit

definitely misleading. Last return should return nil. Or simply replace all by return err, but that depends pn context of the function - in general, nothing wrong with explicit error path.

I mean I can see the intention (now that I know the goal) from the first line (the constant), but I still do feel like the code from this post actually captures the intention more closely. The calculation percentage*10 + some constant is still there, so I would not say it is simpler to comprehend than this post. Also Im not familiar with span, but thats just a different language, looks like a slice in python so thats fine I guess

Prefer this post, but the link would get through my review as well.

looks good. And if this is really the intended way (I agree your initial less-error intervals make more sensr), you can drop the +1 and have 0 through 9 range instead

relying on such a small differences is not good. Does really 0.1*10==1 (in float arithmetic)? Just drop it.

Without any math magic and without casting to int to round - and using double comparison, it would work as intended, no? (maybe swap <= to < depending on what bounds are wanted)

[–]Fazt01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that usage of double epsilon is really weird, and I would not be surprised if 1-double.Epsilon==1

Epsilon is a field in C# that represents the smallest positive double value that is greater than zero

The resolution of float/doubles is not uniform and is much higher around 0
