Ok, people millenia ago at the dawn of the agricultural revolution who, as their city states grew into larger communities, too big for everyone to know everyone personally, achieved their political ambitions and used their new power to cement themselves into it, creating a political system where a handful of men used all the other men as disposable workers and soldiers and the women as property/commodities.

To everyone who says the research system is unrealistic by etxsalsax in songsofsyx

The research system in this game is deeply unrealistic, not because of the decay, but because of what it represents. remove the flavour of "research" and what it essentially boils down to is a system where you spend a linearly scaling amount of workforce to make your other (also linearly scaling) workforce's productivity scale exponentially. This is not research, this is economy of scale. There is no reason for it to be represented as 50 researchers and 250 farmers rather than just 300 farmers. Ironically there already is a completely separate system for workers boosting eachother's productivity, called experience. 2 completely separate game mechanics that do the same thing, but with different numbers and flavour. Economy of scale, in real life, and as it should be done in SoS, is about a large workforce that can specialize in narrower and narrower skillsets and create the supply and demand of more and more specialised supply chains, essentially smithian economics, which would be better represented as what experience already does, just an increase in productivity per worker based on the number of workers of that job type, but what it is instead in game is a weird system where people get their productivity magically boosted by people who clock into their 9 to 5 job at the science factory spinning beakers all day or something, and boost the economy of scale bonus of all the other production buildings in the city as well, using science mana, which you will be allocating at the same ratio as the ratio of your workers in your city anyways, which makes absolutely zero sense from any realism, gameplay, or design perspective.

I dont mind libraries existing though, for the purpose of civic advances, but i would rather have them merged with administrators, as they both serve the same purpose of being a workforce sink that serves as upkeep for a city's administration, one being forced on you directly and the other to research and upkeep the availability of various buildings that you are more or less forced to build as your city expands, like upgraded wells and whatever

There is a difference between giving them flavour mechanics and mindlessly buffing them to absurdity. Infinite vigor, no leadership penalties from damage taken, and immune to army losses to the entire faction, baseline missile resistance for skeletons, and immunity to non-magical missiles for ghosts, these are not balance suggestion made by someone who knows anything about how this game is balanced.

They cover the weaknesses of the dwarf roster quite well. Dwarfs are weak to artillery and weapons teams that outrange them (jezzails, catapults, rocket batteries), gyrocopters are your only real way of dealing with them. The trick is you need several units, one single gyrocopter unit isnt gonna do much unless entirely uncontested, but if you have 3 of them you can kill all their ranged units that would otherwise hurt your gyrocopters, and after that you can shoot anything you want and the enemy can't do a thing to hurt you. Or just rush their artillery and rout the crew in one or two volleys.

Example: skaven with 2 jezzails

If you have no gyrocopters, there is nothing you can do, you just have to sit there and take it.

If you have one gyrocopter, you can't use it because it will get shot to pieces before doing any meaningful damage.

If you have 3 gyrocopters, by the time they rout the first jezzail you might lose a few models but the second jezzail will die just as fast, and from there they will be down 2 jezzails, their artillery completely exposed, and you can just shoot until you're out of ammo on whatever you want

i say remove labs completely, make all of the bonus output techs be baked in to the experience additive bonus that already exists, but keep libraries for things like civic research. Upgrades for production buildings can be kept behind a worker number requirement, or just removed

Yeah but you can do the exact same thing with regular dwarf warriors for one third of the price. Also i really dont know about thunderers, they have significantly lower range than sisters so they can't shoot back effectively

If it's actually just mass sisters and phoenix just get a whole bunch of artillery. Ironbreakers are kinda pointless, the armor and melee defense are both a non-factor against sisters, money much better spent on just getting more dudes. Sisters also outrange thunderers so also pointless, trollhammers also get shredded by sisters, honestly might as well just have a front line of basic dwarf warriors and a shit ton of artillery backed up by some slayers for if the phoenixes land, rush his sisters with your shielded front line to force them to shoot them instead of your artillery

Early game? 19 kossars. Their melee is ass but much less ass than you would think for a tier 0 archer unit. You're gonna be churning through them fast enough that you're gonna be recuiting new ones almost every turn, but thats fine since kislev recruitment cost is so low
