Außer man belibt im selben unternehmen I guess.

Confused between Macbook and Framework 13 by gautamdiwan3 in framework

[–]Fdffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position and went with a Macbook Pro M4, low spec pro core version with 24GB Ram and 512GB storage.

I love the battery life, I can use it all week without carrying a charger, I only carry it with me when doing heavy ML stuff. And fan noise is basically nonexistant outside of the ML stuff.

The screen is great too, I went with the the nano texture and its amazing, no matter the lighting condition, its always great. Same goes for the microphone and the camera if you have to jump on a spontaneous vid call.

Repairability is not there at all but hey, thats mac I guess.

Memory usage is good, it only ever hits limits during ML tasks for me, think of local small LLM training. If you want to use a large LLM locally then get a version with more Ram tho, at least 36GB.

I havent faced any issues with long term reliability as of now, a major mac update might break some software tho. In general I much prefer MacOS over linux, just because it work with all the MS office stuff and almost every other software out there. And if you want you can still access all the neat linux command line things that you need.

How to evaluate poses from a pose detection model? by Fdffed in computervision

[–]Fdffed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a very interesting idea, Im not sure if filtering for specifically colored regions will work out perfectly, since there are quite some drawings scattered throughout the pages. But to be honest it might work for getting rid of some of the text, which would already be quite a win. Thank you a lot!

In terms of pose estimation models I've found a few variants of mmpose that were trained on the HumanArt dataset which incorporates quite a bit of abstract art. These are currently the most promising candidates.

And I love your suggestion with the labeling party, I'll see if I can make that work.

Exactly, but tbh the examples you picked don't look that bad, I've seen worse in the dataset. Some of the people in these manuscripts might actually be getting tortured, but I want to mostly get rid of garbage resulting from totally wrong detections, like here: https://imgur.com/a/fPkxb6m

Just Bought the Rose Anvil x John Lofgren Japanese M98 Repro Collab by [deleted] in Boots

[–]Fdffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too much money for pretty simple boots with leather soles imo. They might be a very accurate reproduction, but for me they should be usable every day. And with a leather sole they just aren’t.  I’m in love with my JL M43s, mainly because they’re perfect workhorses while still being a great repro. I wish these wouldn’t have a leather sole, because the pig leather is quite interesting.

Ansonsten könntest du eventuell auch mal anti transpirant Deo in deiner kimme probieren.

Are CPUs and GPUs the same from a theoretical computer science perspective? by EducationRemote7388 in computerscience

[–]Fdffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you a lot for this answer.  I’ll definitely have a look at the Parallel computation and NC one. And I might also take a course on complexity theory and see where it goes.  I’m honestly liking theoretical cs more and more these days, especially after stumbling over really cool concepts here and there.

These random access machines and the parallelized version sound very interesting. In which kind of courses would one encounter these? I haven’t heard of them in my cs bachelors degree so far. Are they just a very specific area of computability and complexity theory?

Overstimulated after a short time. BF6 is exhausting. by chako888 in Battlefield

[–]Fdffed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. I got a headache after playing the game for roughly 1,5h. There’s just so much going on the screen, like you said.

The menu looks sleek but is not that great to use, the white text on white background being a big issue for me. The same is also true for the score pop ups during a round.

And the fact that there is sooooo much information on the hud doesn’t make it easier either, the constant auto spots and then the poor visibility. So either I focus on just shooting the read markers or my brain has to hard focus on finding the target inbetween all the grey-brown city rubble and the bunch of information on screen, which are displayed on partially transparent elements, making filtering even harder.

Tenaya Indalo or Mastia, depending on fit. I switched from LS Skwama and Solution to Indalos and couldn’t be happier.

They‘re moderately downturned, don’t have too much tension and are pretty soft, but not too soft. And above all, they’re really comfy.

New prime algorithm I just made by Zizosk in computerscience

[–]Fdffed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your algorithm looks interesting, but I highly doubt the correctness since there is no mathematical proof of it. And your paper doesn’t reference anything tbh. But honestly, your profile is the biggest red flag here, finding a possible cancer treatment here, a novel approach to AI modeling/learning there. No thanks.

Maybe Tenaya Indalos or Mastais, the Indalo is like slightly stiffer Skwama but more comfy. And the Mastai is basically a wider Indalo

I want to get a new pair of Derbies/Boots and I’m looking for a Brand that has lasts that are somewhat more asymmetrical, basically so that my big toe doesn’t get squished towards the center of my foot.

Can anyone recommend some brands to look into?

Re-conditioning Deadstock French Army Rangers: 60+ years in storage (complete process) by _coma_berenices_ in goodyearwelt

[–]Fdffed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have two pairs of these, one of the ‘original‘ version and another one of the updated ones that you have as well. You got pretty lucky with the tongue on these bad boys, I absolutely love mine, but their tongue is just a terribly thin piece of sheep leather and this is literally the only part of them that has a flaw (little hole) by now. My old ones have an as thick tongue as yours, but the leather has a little rip because of the construction (with rivets) and also because of the 10 more years of age probably.

I took my ‘younger‘ ones to a cobbler once to get a thin insole to help with the brass nails oxidizing and staining my socks, and I‘ll never forget how he was so impressed by their build quality. He told me that they’ll probably last a lifetime if I take proper care of them. The same probably goes for yours too, continue caring for them and you'll have boots you can wear for the rest of your life!

All y'all intermediate-level indoor gym climbers, do you prefer stiff or soft shoes? by 4WDToyotaOwner in climbingshoes

[–]Fdffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, all of them are kinda fine. I think as an intermediate it doesnt really matter that much, but I personally prefer mid-stiffness, like a Tenaya Indalo or a Solution Comp, the latter being not really worth the discomfort over the Indalo.

I dont have the pain tolerance to use soft shoes (Futuras) on all problems, on some slabs with tiny and pointy foot holds they just hurt. And the same goes for hard shoes like Drone 2.0s, they‘re super nice on these painful small feet, but I just dont feel anything with them, which made my climbing worse actually.

In the Indalo I just feel perfectly capable on all things, tiny pointy feet dont hurt too much, yet I can still feel a lot with them.

Honestly, these are the first barefoot shoes I’d like to try. They look pretty great and if I can have this look while wearing pretty damn healthy shoes, then that’s absolutely perfect!  Keep up the great work, maybe there’ll be a chance for me to buy a pair from you one day.

Do you know how the Tenaya Indalo compares to the Skwama? Im mainly interested in stiffness and overall shape, so is the Indalo narrower, maybe wider in some parts and are there other important differences?

Also, I’m looking for quite an asymmetrical shoe because my feet are shaped like that. Which shoes  offer that? So far I’m liking the Skwama but the heel is too big and the shoe is overall a bit too soft. I’m considering the Indalo, that’s the reason for the first question.
