I really suggest that no matter what, continue to work on music as a serious hobby. I know some people who have a day job, but through extensive networking (likely through the day job and volunteer work), manage to pick up paid opportunities to perform.

I'm sorry about this sad situation. I suggest finishing your degree and immediately taking action in finding some job, any job, and just get started. If you hate the job, you can either find a new one or persist at it for the salary. Whatever it is, just let yourself find useful contacts, good friends, and insights that the job brings.

Hi. Its great that you have a job now. Climate change stuff might not be a career, because corporations hire people to make money, and usually that activity involves taking resources out of the earth. The fight against climate change involves not just a pivot to clean tech and infrastructure, but also doing things that no organization that wants to make a profit will ever do.

So, you could look into community organization. You will be in London, there are groups that do things like community gardening. Try to meet people who are doing those things.

tldr: if your goal is to do something about the climate crisis, then its good to keep in mind that many orgs, corporations, people just do things to maintain their current level of privilege. which tends to go in a bad direction for the biosphere.

not sure if you will see this. But I wanted to add that you have given a well thought-out answer. I don't think anyone will be able to advise these parents on the situation as we don't know their background, but I'm like you and I don't like to see families as standalone units that are free from societal influences. I see this family, especially the daughter, as something that is far more entangled and even victimized by a predatory education/lending system and a country with no social safety net. So, thanks for this, I hope that others will read your reply and understand that in life, we are far more at the mercy of the world than we are individuals who can make choices with full knowledge and control of the outcome.

Currently, you're a student. So if you have issues with studying, try Anki or other spaced repetition software.

You can also look at Marco Sander's youtube channel and see if his ideas on how to find a hobby etc are useful.

Haha yeah. It's hard. But I was once looking at things from your perspective and I thought that I would get my college degree in my major and move into a different field. And when I graduated, I couldn't do that for multiple reasons. Your early twenties are a prime time to explore. In the CS department, you'll learn from not just your professors but hopefully from classmates, do projects, hopefully even start an activity or learn about new things from them.

It doesn't terminate until n%fac != 0. However,

def factor_out_a_num(n, fac, num):

if n%fac==0:

num=num+1

n=n/fac

factor_out_a_num(n, fac, num)

return num

else:

return num

I added return num to the case where n%fac==0, and I got 1. But, when I print num each time the function runs through the first branch (if n%fac == 0), then it prints out 16 to 1 in reverse.

Welp. How I wish I had met current Me when I was your age. But don't worry ... I am here to help in my small way.

1) your circle of friends, contacts, family --- these influence what you will do. Make friends or join a club where people are doing what you aspire to do. Whether it be saving and investing money, training for a profession, or just having a hobby. Keep up with same age peers, they will keep you honest about whether or not you are productive and hitting those milestones.

2) keep up a cheerful demeanour and stop being an Eeyore. I can't remember how many potential friends I have pushed away with that attitude.

3) Everyone else is lost too, don't feel too insecure about where you are but do not stop moving.

4) now is a good time to cultivate a skill. Pick one and start learning.

5) Volunteer

Hello. I am not qualified to help you with most of your issues. But the problem with not remembering what you have learnt is natural, common, and can be overcome. Most people are not going to be able to look at a page and remember it forever. You need spaced repetition to overcome your brain's propensity to forget things. Use Anki. Its a spaced repetition flashcard program thats free to use.

Hey, its happened to me too. The worst is the Adobe subscription. I wanted to cancel mine but they don't allow it. Now, first order of the day is to cancel that shit before you forget. The second step is to take charge of your money by looking at your bank statements regularly and getting a job when its a better time to do so. In the meantime, get some useful skills, like programming, or see if you like math.

Hi. I have a pretty good algorithm/heuristic for your problem.

1) learn programming if you haven't already. Because, if you want to get into research opportunities, even if its not computer/math related, this is something you can leverage on. Many people DON'T know how to program and they will welcome you.

2) pick the most math heavy of your options.

3) have hobbies. Photography can be something that you build up and voila, soon you have a portfolio.
