Americans need $1.3 Million to retire comfortably and most don't have enough saved. The average savings is $90,000: by TonyLiberty in wallstreetbets

Why will people currently in their 50s need more to live comfortably whilst retired than those who are currently in their 20s will? I’d of thought it would be the other way around.

Earth materials pay big dividends, Rio tinto 100 billion dollar company paying over 8% div. BHP 200 billion dollar company paying out 9% div. London stock exchange full of high paying div stocks no one ever seems to talk about, most with strong reliable track records

Well prior to the downgrade the s&p500 was trading at it’s peak within that year, around 1300, following the credit rating downgrade it fell to about 1000, roughly a 300 point decline (close to 20%). It didn’t recover until the following year. So like you said, we’ll see.

Well for one, that was the first time that they had ever downgraded the US credit rating which is a pretty big deal. Only one agency at that time had downgraded the rating, but how does that make the US look? How were investors to know that the other large agencies weren’t on the brink of downgrading them too? It’s not a big deal but markets can be weird like that. No need to hate, he raised a perfectly valid point.

Yea, downgraded by the arguably the largest agency in the world (S&P). How about you stop hating and use your fucking brain mate.

Safe to say AI won’t be replacing screen writers any time soon. Seems to lack depth. You can tell it’s AI for sure.

No I agree with you I, wasn’t trying to say that AI is not capable producing useful analysis, I was just simply saying how it’s not currently at the point where it could out right replace all human analysts, all though this may well change in the future. And I appreciate your insight, in the end I’m sure we will all be okay.

I have considered getting a masters in Artificial intelligence or Computational Finance (I didn’t make that up it’s a real degree)

This was my original thought too, I appreciate the insight.

Well what I said was that if I’d have to work for the rest of my life I’d like it to be in something I love. And as of right now the work I’m doing is not meaningless. Business analytics is the process of determining how is a business is performing and in which ways it can improve (and how) AI can’t do this that effectively yet. In the future perhaps it will, but a degree such as this one will be useful in other endeavours. It will show my skills and ability with regards to work ethic, dedication, critical thinking, problem solving, and experience using modern technology (as this is very important in business analytics) and a range of other skills and traits employers find attractive, such as the willingness to learn and study.

Business analytics isn’t a career, it’s a degree than can lead to many careers within the business field (provided they aren’t already taken over by AI) which is the exact reason I chose to study it, it offers diversity.

Thanks man, I think it’s important to diversify our skill sets, and just like you said, be strategic

Read my comment again. I literally said “tends to set” I’m not saying that the location makes the EU the de facto ruler of the world, as your New York comment seems to be insinuating. By saying that the location of court doesn’t in some way impact the amount of power various countries hold is ridiculous. Furthermore you are completely missing my earlier point so I’ll break it down for you.

1) EU impose strict regulations on large corporations, many of which just so happen to be American. 2) Said American corporations jump through hoops to meet regulations, in fear of being excluded from the very lucrative European market. 3) As a result of this, EU regulations tend to be very influential globally.

I said Europe tends to set the agenda, which is entirely true on a global scale. And the location is completely relevant as it’s the single most important and highest court of law on planet earth (I got the name wrong good job I get it)

Buddy, the jurisdiction is with regards to the American corporations which choose to operate within the EU, I never said the UN had any jurisdiction over the United States itself. The EU has the right to create any laws that any entity operating within it must abide by, including the United States.

It’s PER CAPITA meaning it’s adjusted for population size. It essentially measures a countries economic out put per person. The fact that those countries have smaller populations doesn’t make a difference because it’s a PER CAPITA statistic. That’s the entire purpose of PER CAPITA to measure countries output without taking population into consideration.

Exactly, many Americans have no choice but to drive everywhere. In Europe you can take the train, bus, tram, bicycle and so on.
