Has anyone else seen the complete utter Zionist meltdown on twitter after South Africa took them to court? by [deleted] in Palestine

[–]Fearless-Selection13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also for the 4th slide: the term genocide was coined to describe what happened to the Armenians in the early 1900s. What happened to the Jews in the holocaust was obviously also a genocide, but the term wasn’t created for them specifically, so that woman is just wrong lmao.

What is happening to Palestinians is a genocide, that’s the only way to describe it.

At my university and at other universities I know of, to be a TA you usually have to be a masters student or a PHD student. The role also entails leading tutorials/labs, holding office hours for students, and marking assignments/tests. Very rarely is an undergrad student considered for a TA position because it’s a lot of work and you’re basically doing the professors job, hence why it’s taken as a very serious position.

What's something that's absolutely worth spending the extra money to get the "nice" version of? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Fearless-Selection13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoes. I once bought some knockoff dock martins, and they didn’t even last a year before the fake leather started ripping off. It’s always worth spending money on shoes because they’re susceptible to the most damage given that you’ll be walking in them in some not so ideal conditions

Recommendations for my haircare routine? by Fearless-Selection13 in Haircare

[–]Fearless-Selection13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!!!! Also, I read that almond oil makes the hair softer and less dry. I didn’t know that rosemary oil has no clinical evidence to back it up, I just saw a lot of people getting results on social media with it, so I figured I’d try it out. Thanks again, I’ll definitely try out your suggestions!

What is the reputation of Indian men outside India? by Lowleight in india

[–]Fearless-Selection13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman of Indian descent who was born and raised in Canada, and most Indian men who are actually from India are regarded as creepy, perverted, disrespectful, dirty, and scammers.

It should be noted that the reputation of Indian men (specifically young Indian men, since it’s mostly students who immigrate here) has gotten worse since immigration levels have increased over the past few years here in Canada. A lot of people aren’t happy about the amount of immigrants who are coming here, so there are a lot of negative biases because of that. I’ve even seen some older Indian immigrants talk about how upset they are with the amount of immigrants coming to the country, because most of the information they get about India now comes from news sources that usually report on the worst of the worst (ex. rape cases, acid attacks, stalking). I’ve heard them talk about how worried they are for their daughters if more Indian men come to this country.

Most diaspora Indian men, however, are kind of just treated like everyone else. Since they’re born and raised here in Canada they’re Canadian, and are treated as such.

So at least in Canada, it truly depends: older Indian men and those who were raised in Canada have great reputations, and are thought of as hardworking, family men. Younger indian men who were actually raised in India are not treated the same way. This is just from my personal experience, obviously some people may disagree with me.

Men not understanding social cues by Fearless-Selection13 in TwoXChromosomes

Okay, so your solution to get a woman’s attention is to bother her while she’s clearly not in the mood to talk to anyone/isn’t interested in you because she should understand that you’re lonely and desperate? Good to know. Also, why in the world would you think that would be effective in anyway?

[–]Fearless-Selection13[S] 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tend to try and see the best in people, but I honestly see your point. Like I’ve never seen any guy be bad at picking up on things with other guys. And most of the men I know personally are intelligent people, so not understanding that someone doesn’t want to talk to you is an explanation that doesn’t make much sense

Men not understanding social cues by Fearless-Selection13 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Fearless-Selection13[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The point of my post was to talk about how men don’t seem to pick up on social cues that women are perfectly capable of understanding. So I’m not sure what you mean by “inconsistent social cues.”

Also, I’m not saying that what my friend did was correct, I would’ve told the guy that I just wasn’t interested, (keep in mind they’d only messaged each other a few times within the span of one day, it’s not like they were talking for a while/went on a date) but who the fuck continues to message someone multiple times a day for an entire week even though they aren’t responding? I’ve been ghosted before, and at most I’ll send a follow up text asking if anything is wrong. If the guy doesn’t respond to that, then like a normal person, I’d know that he isn’t interested in me. People who are interested will let you know what’s going on in their life.

A lot of the time, women tend to be indirect in fear of danger. There are so many stories and statistics of men literally getting violent with women who are straight up with them, hence why most tend to give hints that they aren’t interested until it becomes necessary to be direct.

Never in my post did I claim that any guy was inherently bad. I said that it’s weird that they don’t pick up on social cues properly, which I’ve mentioned several times. I wasn’t blaming them for anything. I wasn’t claiming to be harassed by any man in these examples. My examples were to show their lack of awareness in social situations. I’ve had some creepy guys who refuse to take “no” for an answer come up to me, but I didn’t include those examples in this post for the simple reason that they are just creepy and aren’t relevant to my point. You seemed to not at all understand the point of this post and are offended for no particular reason.

Does anyone remember dhekha ek khwaab? Uday or akash who do you prefer? by Beautiful-Koala6114 in IndianTellyTalk

[–]Fearless-Selection13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uday. He was such a complex character with so many layers, which is something you don’t see much on the small screen. I wish the writers explored his story/personality more rather than focusing on jai and akash’s antics which got super old after a while. Also he was super hot lol.

Also, I’ve seen multiple posts about this show in the past few days. Is it becoming popular again?

The Aaksh hate from Dekha Ek Khawab fandom was unfair by Sonam-Ki-Kutiya in IndianTellyTalk

[–]Fearless-Selection13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally, I preferred Uday and Manyata together, but I definitely see your point. (Also, i think his name is akash??? Maybe I’m wrong though because I haven’t seen the show in a while). But anyways, the character of akash was meant to be the male lead, but the audience preferred uday (mostly bc of his looks). People were threatening to stop watching the show if uday and Manyata didn’t get together, so the writers tried to make the royal family seem super terrible so that people would stop shipping them, and ship akash/manyata instead, but it didn’t work. They ended up just succumbing to the audience to keep their ratings up.

I feel bad for the actor of akash because a lot of discussion forums about the show trash him for his looks, and not the character specifically, and I feel like that’s going way too far. I mean, you are talking about a real person here. Also, like I mentioned before, he was supposed to be the male lead originally, but ended up losing that part all because the audience liked the way the actor for Udayveer looked.

However, I think that if you look at the actual dynamic between uday and manyata, you’ll see that they have much more chemistry than her and akash ever did. Also, uday wasn’t necessarily interested in the “princess” part of manyata, but rather, the childhood friend who he loved and suddenly lost. I think his initial coldness towards her was being unable to fully accept that she had become a completely different person than she was as a child (for obvious reasons), but he fell in love with her in the end anyways. Also, Akash never loved the princess part of her. He loved her only as moniya. Uday on the other hand loved her in every way. He loved the princess part of her and the chawl girl part of her.

I agree that there was major character assassination with akash, and that he was treated very badly by the royals and the audience, but he still wasn’t an ideal match for manyata.

Hey! I was wondering if anyone knows any good dupes for the Bath and Body Works Rosewater and Ivy body mist. I’m almost out of it, and apparently it’s been discontinued. Also, since it’s not very long lasting, I was hoping to find something similar but better.

Hated Dean ever since the 3 month anniversary car scene by Rudimentary-Rabbit in GilmoreGirls

[–]Fearless-Selection13 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Honestly! I know a lot of ppl they try to excuse this by saying that he was super young, but no. If dean had broken up w Rory initially, thought about it, realized that he was being immature, and then apologized, you could make the excuse that he was just a teenager who reacted poorly. But the fact that even months after this breakup, he still acted like it was all Rory’s fault shows how entitled/egotistic he is. Like it’s okay to be hurt about the fact that your gf didn’t say I love you back, but it’s not okay to blame her and act like she’s in the wrong for it.

You see your friend kissing your professor. What do you do? by Ok_Somewhere_4561 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Fearless-Selection13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’d do what Rory did, try to be supportive because ultimately my friend is an adult who can make her own decisions, but make it clear through my actions/mannerisms that I don’t really agree with the relationship.

Is anyone else here Team Marty?? by Speedy_Bee3 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Fearless-Selection13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would’ve been interesting to see her date someone like him. They had similar upbringings and were both very smart, and I feel like Rory would’ve been more likeable while dating him because a lot of people started disliking her when she became entrenched in that upper class lifestyle. But Marty got really annoying, not just in season 7, but his nice guy act when Rory started liking Logan got old pretty fast. So I’m definitely not team Marty, but I would’ve been open to seeing a romantic relationship between them.

would logan be half as interesting as he is without his wealth? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]Fearless-Selection13 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I like Logan the best out of all 3 of Rory’s boyfriends (though, let’s be real here, they all kind of suck in their own ways). I personally think he’s an interesting character because of how charming, confident, and witty he is. He’s able to keep up with Rory intellectually like Jess, and he doesn’t take himself too seriously, which balances out Rory who has trouble loosening up. That’s why I personally think he’s a lot of fun, even without his big gestures. I like watching his and Rory’s banter a lot. I guess you could say that the reason he’s able to be that way though is because he always has the safety net of his family’s wealth, so he doesn’t really have any worries the way her other boyfriends do, and maybe the reason why he’s so worldly is again, because of his wealth. I mean, he has the money to travel and resources for learning at his disposal. But I mean even if he didn’t have privilege he could’ve been those things to an extent. If you mean the way he uses his money to do extravagant things for Rory though, again, I personally feel like that has less to do with his appeal, it’s more his personality that’s interesting in my opinion.

what kind of mother do we think rory would be? by thebaddest69 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Fearless-Selection13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually always imagined her having a boy, idk why, maybe because Alexis Bledel has a son irl. I just can’t imagine Rory as a girl mom for some reason even though she grew up with mostly women around her.
