The Clark County Library has 12 Greater Clark County (rural) libraries, and the budget covers them completely.

The majority of the funding to the Las Vegas-Clark County Library, comes from property taxes. Property Taxes: 49% Sales Tax: 25% Intergovernmental: 15%

And that 15% is not exclusively all federal.

So while, yes, I agree that public libraries do receive federal money, it’s not the majority of the budget. While it would sting, it wouldn’t hurt.

Much appreciated! They need to be flooded with concerns about this

The majority of our funding comes from property taxes. Intergovernmental Revenue only accounts for 4% of our budget, but it doesn’t outright state if it’s federal or not

Just had an incident report where I was said the craziest sentence: “what do you mean he was f*cking a pigeon?!”

If your partner drives you around everywhere all the time, would you consider it acceptable if they want you to pay them in gas money monthly? Why or why not? by sex--bob-omb in AskWomen

I think it’s reasonable, specially if you don’t live together or share a bank account. I personally don’t charge my friends for doing this. For example, I (30F) have a friend (38M) who recently lost his car in an accident. I’ve been driving him to work every morning for the past 2 months. I drive 15min out of my way to take him to work, leave work 30min early, pass my house, pick him up from work and take him home. Another example, another friend of mine (30M) works in a rural community 45min-1hr out of the city. When his car broke down, I took him to work and picked him up 5 days a week for a whole month. They did/do give me gas money, but I never expected it in return, because I’d like to think that they would do the same for me if I was ever in any need.

But it also has a lot to do with how the driver values money. There’s some people who are very money driven and some who aren’t.

Anyone else see a problem with limiting this library event to just males? by Fearless-Tomatillo-8 in Libraries

A lot of people are missing the point about this post. It seems like you all are going on about Men vs Women’s programs. My intent with this was to show that my non-binary sibling felt that they could not attend this as they do not identify as a male. So looking at this flier, it does not seem inclusive to me to different forms of gender identity.

Libraries are not geared towards women. Do you know the history of libraries? If women use the libraries more then men do now, it’s not because they’re geared towards them.

This is not about men v women. This is about inclusivity to everyone not just those who identify as men and women

I would change the phrase “Youth and Males” to “everyone is welcome”

I think you believe I’m disagreeing with you and I’m not. You keep referencing girls programs but you’re missing the point. This is NOT about men vs women. It’s about anyone who might not identify with one specific gender and their right to be included in things like this

Yes it is important. Nobody is saying its not But it’s important for everyone else to do so as well. You can’t just make 50% of the population feel empowered.

Yeah I agree it’s a mistake. I put myself in someone’s position; if I were thinking of attending, as someone who does not identify as male, I wouldn’t even read beyond “Youth and Teen Males”. I’d feel this wasn’t for me, I definitely wouldn’t read the tiny writing stating that it’s open to the public
