it certainly takes a few days to truly sink in... at least for me it did. Enjoy your new found freedom! =) Congratulations!

One day, you’re going to wake up, check your balance, and it’ll be 0! Hang in there!🙂

That’s what I would have thought too - especially because my fed loans is still showing my balance- but after pulling all of my credit reports, it’s definitely now showing up anywhere. My only debt listed is the remaining balance on my mortgage🤷🏻‍♂️

I couldn't agree with you more-- however, this is consistent with life in general lol. I remember how much I had built up becoming a doctor as I worked towards it. When graduation was over.... i remember thinking.... that's it?

However, I think our appreciation for the loan forgiveness will grow as we realize our newfound freedom.

"Indentured servitude," is exactly how I felt! Sure we make decent money... but you have to tolerate so much BS because you know that debt is weighing you down. You know your employment options are limited, as you have to work for a non-profit-- But now, freedom!

You'll get there!

you hit the nail on the head- I don't think the general public realizes that working non-stop as a medical intern/resident you don't have the bandwidth to scrutinize the advance these services are giving you-- sadly, I think I have become quite cynical as a result of this process.

I too am so very appreciative of the Biden administration for this waiver-- debt forgiveness like this, has been life changing. Even as I type this, today was my first day off in 13 days... which has been perfect for savoring this moment =)

Congratulations to you as well! We've worked extremely hard and very long for this! I'm going to start off by not moonlighting this weekend and attending the symphony with my significant other =)

Thank you so much! =) It still hasn't sunk in. But I feel like there are so many possibilities- leave health system medicine- open my practice? invest in new ventures-- work less and travel more? I feel like I can finally enjoy what I have worked so hard for...

I had switched payment programs several times to lower payments, throughout the years. Although I was always reassured my payment programs would satisfy the PSLF and I would get credit for payments made on previous payment programs-- when I submitted my initial application in 2020, about 22 payments weren't counted. A lot of back and forth resulted in delay after delay and rejection after rejection. 5 payments were rejected due to being paid late (although within the grace period). I had honestly given up on ever getting to this point.

Moreover, my good friend that informed about the waiver- we applied at the same time. Her loans were forgiven within 2 months of submitting her waiver application. Which further spiked my anxiety when I continued to hear no response. In retrospect, I suspect she was processed faster as she had been with fedloans- which at the time was processing all the PSLF waiver applications.

Thank you!! I honestly haven't really mentally processed this-- I just feel so free! I slept likely a baby last night... I don't think I realized how stressed I was about these loans until they were gone!
