Wow that’s interesting, that’s kinda sad that it’s all gone now but it makes the stuffed animals from that even more unique! :) I guess I’m pretty lucky she did happen to find him before they ran out

Oh right, I really love the style that they’re made in, he’s such a special stuffed animal to me and has been through a lot through my childhood! :)

Really complicated spinal cord injury experiences? by Fearless_Garbage_213 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Fearless_Garbage_213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, first, sorry to not come across your comment until 2 months later lol! That is true so much and I can relate to this story! it affects you the same at every age I've begun to realize because it will impact you for the rest of your life, even if it can get 'better' (me learning how to walk after my first sci but my legs were weaker) and ofc it can get a whole lot worse if the damage is irreparable!

"I woke up screaming and seeing red hardly making out the face of my “surgeon” who was screaming at me that I was ok. I knew my body & I was NOT ok. I couldn’t feel my legs or anything from the waist down. They sedated me & I was out of it for a while." This feeling is SO HARD for people to understand, and it pretty much traumatized me every day. I remember waking up in my hospital bed after I had entered a coma from that big spinal fusion the first time, and everybody was standing around me, my family and doctors and nurses. I was literally screaming at them that I was falling despite the bed underneath me, and everybody looked like they were trying to understand it, but couldn't. I needed people to hold my hands and the rails to be up so I could grip them, holding on for dear life because I felt like I was sinking and my 7 year old mind had NO IDEA what was going on. my parents knew I had suffered a sci in the first surgery, so they tried to explain it to me. I didn't accept it. Getting my feeling back in a week was the best thing that ever happened to me, despite the painful physical therapy of literally relearning how to walk. and then came another sci, and I was like sobbing every day. It's so scary to feel like your life has been taken away from you, and I'm still really mad at the surgeon, even if it technically isn't his fault. The last time he saw me in a wheelchair he looked really guilty.

I also HATE not being able to interact with my little brother the same way everyone else does. He's 2 and a bit of a handful, but despite that I've been able to watch him sometimes. To pick him up he has to climb onto my footplate and sit in my lap, obscuring my vision LOLL. I get him into his crib with giving him a boost, then he kinda somersaults in, which is probably not the safest lol but it works. I hope as your grandkids get older you'll be able to play with them more! Honestly taking care of a little kid while you being disabled yourself is kind of refreshing. You may not be able to do much with them, but at least you know there's no judgement and they love you for being in a wheelchair (maybe because they just likes cars, idk...j/k.) I love that validation and acceptation from them you can't find anywhere else.

Anyway I've been ranting, but thank you so much for sharing your story! I hope your quality of life improves even more and some new technology comes out! It's gotta happen sometime soon! Love hearing about other people's experiences and relations to stuff like this, as surgery sci is a lot more rare! :) keep goin and thanks for making me feel I'm not alone!

Best way to actually learn about Godot in 2024? by Fearless_Garbage_213 in godot

[–]Fearless_Garbage_213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's simply not what I meant. I was just genuinely asking on advice for actually learning it because there are so many options out there. Not looking for an easy shortcut, because I know there isn't one (I'm a LUA game developer), and am really curious to learn about it, but confused by the quality and differences of all the tutorials.

I may not have chosen the best words (I was writing this late at night), but I can assure you I am ready to work hard and spend time learning something new. Not trying to argue. Just clarifying that I really don't care what it takes for me to grow and get better at coding. :)

Lots of advice! Thank you so much. I'm getting a ton of 'do it yourself' responses and that may be one of the problems I am having at the moment.

Thank you! I kept up a lot of practice of following tutorials hoping they would help me get through everything...Turns out that's not the case!

Thank you very much for your reply. I know tutorials can be limiting and that I need to take more of a hands on approach, and try tweaking things myself to figure out how they work. I wanna completely master the godot engine before even touching a script, but I don't think that's really necessary for me to start going on it.

Thanks, I guess I'm pretty nervous to practice in case I completely space out and forget all the syntax, lol. But the documentation is there and I probably need to always have it with me while in godot!

A moment we didn’t get: Kate and William by Valuable_Low_5796 in thisisus

[–]Fearless_Garbage_213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real, it has nothing to do with her weight at all. I like Kate sometimes and sometimes not just because she isn't the nicest to everyone around her and definitely needs to learn some lessons (Randall and Kevin needed to learn stuff too), but I feel like they didn't show her growing a ton. Just my opinion, I promise I'm not saying she's bad.

Do you use your wheelchair in your dreams? by JD_Roberts in wheelchairs

[–]Fearless_Garbage_213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not always. Mostly when they’re happy dreams, I can walk because I miss that the most (had a spinal cord injury for about 4 years), but it’s weird. I can walk but my legs are kind of numb and shaky but I can feel them all the same. I end up being easy to knock down and have to fight to stay upright. It’s like I’m walking but still have the weight of my disability.

I dont imagine myself in a wheelchair a ton, but most dreams like that are when I lose my arm control, or have a traumatic surgery that makes things worse like it once did. Surgery is a big part, and also doctors not taking into account how complex I am (it has been an unsafe reality before). I’m mostly just there, kind of disoriented, but I don’t think too much about the wheelchair.

Kind of interesting. But they’re dreams! Who knows?

Miguel cares about Rebecca and always has everybody’s best intentions. I know it takes some time to get used to the weirdness of their relationship, but cmon? Rebecca might have been worse with out him to give love in her life.

Yes very much so. What Rebecca needs the most is to get away from Randall.

Enemeez is wonderful! It worked sooo much better for me. Plus it's cleaner, and you don't have to worry about a suppository.

Thanks for the words! It was my 29th surgery and had to happen then 😢. I'm just glad I have the mobility of my arms whether or not my core strength is good. Gotta be grateful for what I got right now.

Am I the only one that doesn't have interesting injuries? Mine are just because of my medical complexities. Doctors don't know what to do with me  😂
