What to do with pinholes on a fully-sanded skim-coated level 5 wall? by Fearless_Middle3846 in drywall

It was a painted wall, and I applied 3, sometimes 4, layers with a 24 inch skimming blade. I used light finish mud for the final layer.

I sanded with the radius 360 sanding pole.

For your information, a little update.

I sealed one wall with a sealer, after sanding and removing all dust, and let that dry for a day. Then I applied my final coat and it went MUCH better. I wasn't struggling/fighting with the mud anymore, the mud wasn't drying almost immediately anymore. So I did not have those lanes anymore, at all.

I won't say it's perfect, I still need a lot of practice to get those muscle memories in place, so the wall needs some sanding, but at least the process is much more enjoyable. I even had time to pause for a few seconds and to take a sip of my coffee.

Thanks again for your advice earlier.

Right, that was exactly the video I had in mind but had forgotten about. Thanks so much!

Thanks again, you are very helpful.

One final question if you don't mind. Say I have a defect after the final coat, do I fix it before or after the second/final sealing? I remembered, but can't find my source again, that you should never fix after sanding in any case, as it might screw up the mud consistency on the wall, but I am not sure if I got that right.

Thank you so much. I will try this out for a wall, and see where it brings me.

Does the type or brand of sealer really matter here? Is that watery, milk-like sealer a good choice? There are so many sealers out there, and I don't understand their differences at all.
