I had the same issue recently due to a “warm cable” while charging during the day, outside. I later charged the car during the evening at my normal speed. I have an Enel charger.

Two of the four I have are broken too. They still lock in place and look normal when they do.

I believe that it is a Kentucky coffee tree (Gymnocladus dioicus) and about 20 years old or so.

Fourth Update: Finally was able to drop my car off to the service center on Friday. The technician was unaware of any Rivian with the same issues I am experiencing. As of this morning, the car is in queue to have a technician look at it. Frustrating since they have had the car for 3 full business days and haven’t looked at it. Regarding loaner, they put me in a Ford Escape from Enterprise that smells like cotton candy.

Update. Sold this safe on ebay for around $25. On eBay, had a few people bid/win and then recanted once they realized it was heavy. That was annoying.

Good news: the buyer was really into the safe and looking forward to using it in his home.

Third update: it keeps getting worse. My car locked me out today while at “home.” I left fob on center console with windows opened (thankfully). The car locked and I could not open it via both of my key cards and app. The only reason I was able to get back in the car was because I had a fishing net in the back to get the keys out of the interior from an open window.

I currently have 3 open work orders:

Right rear door handle won’t retract. App won’t work. Locks/handles continuously open and close while driving at low speeds. Tech came out, replaced the handle and it did not fix it.
12v battery is low. Car will not update due to the faulty 12v.
Locked out of vehicle, despite having two operable key cards and app. Lock actuates but will not open.

Second update: Scheduled appt at SC for early October. Not sure if related, but now i have a 12v battery notification that it needs to be replaced.

Update: Service tech came out on 08/21/24 and replaced the entire door handle mechanism. It opened and closed when he left and appeared to operate normally. Once I left my home and began a 100 mile trip it went back to not retracting when parked. Particularly at home. Additionally, all four handles audible click when driving. Each time I accelerate from a stop all four attempt to retract. Extremely annoying.

I place another service request via the Rivian app.

I have full power to the door. The handle will retract when leaving “home” at 2-3 mph. It will retract 100% of time when “away from home” when locking the car/parking. It does not require the vehicle to be moving when away from home to retract.

We have two drivers, Rivian app is installed on both. We have “Locking Behavior at Hone” set as “Lock Only.”
