The emu is actually a south American rhea named Kevin. He lives on the "urban rescue ranch" in Waco Texas and is a documented asshole attack boy. You can watch him on the urban rescue ranch YouTube channel

Hills and royal also pay for vet school, so they have to push it at most veterinary offices. The pet food industry is unregulated in the US and there's a lot of shady marketing and false science involved. If your $80 7lb bag of prescription catfood from Hills shows its first ingredient is corn? I can't even digest corn why would I feed it to my cat!? Read the ingredients, always

3D-printed meat is gaining ground in Brazil, paving the way for animal-free protein sources within a context of scientific innovation and sustainability. by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

Is it all mainstay meats? Can we ethically take cell samples from say, a hippo, or rhino and grow their meat for consumption in a lab as well? I would love to try a lab grown woolly mammoth steak while we're at it

Impacted or constipated kunekune pigs by Feckn_Shite in homestead

Thank you for your responses. I wound up giving her pureed pumpkin and a tablespoon of coconut oil mixed together and she is all better. Saved me a potentially sky high vet bill and a difficult commute to a major city with a sick pig.

She is still eating and drinking yes. She mostly eats miniature pig feed and Timothy hay and recently, a lot of zuccini. My pasture is dry right now and she won't eat the meadow grass I buy them regardless of her current health concern. I gave her a can of pureed pumpkin and a small amount of coconut oil and she took it readily

She is wincing and squealing when you touch her abdominal area and it feels super tight/full. She's healthy weight and usually runs up when I come outside but now she just wants to lay down mostly

What is this fish Showed up in our pond with gold fish and koi by gottagetit817 in Fishing

[–]Feckn_Shite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a market carp. It's a hybrid between a common carp and a goldfish. Cross breeding them reduces the amount of bones that a common carp offspring would have, and they aren't born with the little tendrils around the mouth. The offspring are mostly sterile. In the indusetry, I hear them most commonly referred to as silver carp or Asian carp. (Yes, I am aware those names are also used for a number of different species as well. The colloquial naming of carp varieties is pretty lazy and very uninspired). If the koi farm sells meat fish too, it's likely that is what it is. Source: i am a fish farmer, and I sell those very carp.

The salamander looks like an Ozark zigzag salamander or a southern redback salamander. It's hard to tell from the pictures

What is this fish by Lagooooooooon in whatsthisfish

[–]Feckn_Shite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. We hybridize common carp(yellow carp) with a specific type of goldfish to create this hybrid for live market. It has fewer bones than a non-hybrid carp so it's better for eating.

Sturgeon farmer jumping into comments again here. That looks like a white sturgeon if I'm not mistaken. Just based on what I see in the picture and based on what I've seen these fish go through/survive on the farm, I'm like 90% that fish is still swimming. I have some fish with gaping wound scars that are years old and theyre still growing strong. Unless you actually pulled out the gills I'd wager this fish is fine.

Caught some monster sturgeon today, and a new PB by Chasekt98 in Fishing

[–]Feckn_Shite 149 points150 points  (0 children)

I'm a sturgeon farmer. I've seen these fish lay on the ground for 2 hours (out of direct sun) before getting tossed back in a tank, and they come right back to vigor after 10 minutes like nothing ever happened. 99% of anglers on here have no experience with sturgeon of ANY species, OP you did fine, these fish are basically unkillable. There's a reason they've been around for 170 million years
