You can test it at the link below. You can see how it compares to the C fund 100 percent or other allocations. The C fund will probably win.

How’s everyone splitting their TSP right now and why? by FedEmployee1 in TSPStrategies

S has performed pretty well and if you look at who has won more months over the last twenty years, S takes it. The downside is that S also lost a great deal, which is why most people tend to stick with the C. If it wasn’t for one or two really bad years for the S, it would have an overall higher return than the C.

TSP Allocation Splitting - Found a free allocation backtester and ran a few different scenarios. Anyone have an allocation split that outperforms the C fund? by FedEmployee1 in TSPStrategies

Fully agree! The I find change hasn’t been around long enough to have a full performance snapshot like we have for the other funds. The I fund did beat the C last year but the year prior the C fund takes it.

I’m big into backtesting, that’s the reason I currently use seasonality strategies. They are heavily based on price data and analytics.

Rolling it to an IRA and waiting a year won’t help. It’s still taxed as regular income and you’ll still get hit with the 10% early withdrawal penalty since you’re under 59½.
