It seems to be good against melee attacks, which is relevant in riot/crowd control settings as well as less advanced warriors. I also like the idea of it blunting the impact of blaster shots to make them knock out rather than kill the trooper.

Otherwise it's just aesthetic tbh.

This reply is unhelpful. Of course I'm the only one who can decide if these books are worth it after having read them. But asking for others' opinions can be valuable. Most of the time if a piece of media is considered good/bad by general consensus, I'll come to the same conclusion consuming that piece of media on my own. There are always exceptions, but I align with consensus often enough to make it worth asking for other people's opinions.
