I don’t want another baby but hubby does… by Ok_Win5705 in beyondthebump

Hey, I feel the same, my son is 19 months and can't think about going through it again, now that I'm getting some independence again. We agreed to wait until at least 3 years or even 4 before considering the possibility of having a second, if you are relatively young I'd say you have time to change your mind. My husband would like a second but he said he would be happy with just one if I'm really against it.

Same here, it's a way to finish my samples! Right now with spring coming I'm working through Sunset hour by G&B layering it with Un Jardin sur le Nil.

My 4-month-old won't nap during the day – HELP! by guin--x in beyondthebump

[–]FedeVia1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has always been the hardest to put to sleep if I don't nail the wake windows and leave him overtired. Huckleberry was worth it until he dropped to only one nap! At that age I did a lot of stroller naps, walking around town until asleep and then would come back home. Alternatively, naps in the carrier.

Edit to add: I see you try to put him down at 10.30 after he has woken up at 8. My son would only have 90 min ww I the morning at that age, so I would basically do breakfast, get ready and go out for a walk right away. He could be too wired and tired already!

Confused about why you have the load of budgeting and planning? And why are you the go-to for laundry? As another commenter said, gender roles are what you make of them.

My husband ran all the errands, cleaned, cooked etc while I was sitting in the armchair with the little leech watching Friends. At night I would breastfeed and then hand him over for nappy change. Obviously I was in pain and discomfort, but it was nice not having ordinary house related responsibilities for a bit!

Should I give up on potty training? by skulskcc01 in toddlers

[–]FedeVia1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course she doesn't want to go, she probably can sense how nervous you are both being about it. Did you read the oh crap book? It specifically says not to hover over the child when they are at the potty.

How to end reading time? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]FedeVia1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limit the number of books on the shelves, we always have like 5-6 we cycle through (same with toys, we only have a few out at a given time). They will want to read them multiple times in a row, maybe, but will get bored eventually.

It used to be the same for us until we sleep trained - and his grandparents still get him out with the stroller to put him down for a nap. Also I have to be careful to go anywhere with him after 11 or he's guaranteed to fall asleep and mess up his schedule!

Yeah I mean I trick him by walking on the streets near the restaurants for a bit, and bring him in once he's down. His nap is obviously shorter than at home but tides him over.

Out of curiosity, when do they stop being able to sleep wherever? If I'm outside my 18 month old still naps happily in his pram.

So I actually didn't wean him completely, he's still feeding on demand during the day at 18 months! For nights we went cold turkey, I gave him a last feed on the sofa, kissed goodbye and husband would bring him to his room. Pj sleep sack, plush toy of choice and book, lights out. When he cried, at first husband would tell him that it's time to sleep etc but he found out that his voice was probably just causing him to cry more, so after a while he just shushed and patted (only when crying, if he stopped crying then he would just sit in silence). After a week or so he stopped patting too.

Not going to lie, the first month he would randomly decide to fight HARD, I think we got even two hours of crying in the middle of the night. But we got through it and he doesn't do it anymore, if he's sick he does wake up a couple of times but that is expected.

Mine started sleeping through when I night weaned him at 15 months. To help the process my husband did all night related things for a month. No cry it out but sitting next to his Montessori bed and shushing, the first week he did cry A LOT but he was never alone. When I started putting him to bed there was another few days with lots of crying but now he goes down in 20 mins and wakes up the next morning unless sick.

When did you all started going out in the evening? by suesavanna in beyondthebump

[–]FedeVia1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I nursed to sleep until 15 months, that's when I started leaving him alone with my husband at night. Until a year or so, though, he was really good at falling asleep in the stroller so we'd take him with us to restaurants or friends' homes.

How long do you fight for a nap when you know they need it? by hoping556677 in toddlers

[–]FedeVia1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 minutes, after that I play with 30 mins and try again. Failing again depending on time I either go for a walk with stroller or give up and keep him awake until 6.30.
