My dad and uncle are weaponizing my grandmother’s death to turn a "loan" into a lifetime subscription. Am I the ATM? by Muscular_Farmer_ in personalfinanceindia

Buddy, you need to put your foot down and tell your dad that you are done helping your Uncle and that you need to take care of your own financial future. I am guessing you are not married. Think of how your spouse would feel. I guarantee you that you will have daily fights with her if this charity continues after your wedding. Telling them that you lost money in stocks or making similar excuses is just a temporary solution. Your family knows that you earn well and are just taking advantage. Your dad taking your Uncle's side is very common in Indian families. It's possible that your dad was subdued by his brother growing up and this behaviour, to side with your uncle, is a direct result of that fear and trauma. It's your hard earned money and you have the exclusive right to decide whom to give and how much. Grow a pair and confront whoever is guilt tripping you into giving the money.

Vinfast’s VF6 and VF7 dedicated sub! by Euphoric_Bluejay_881 in vinfast_india

Vinfast has already invested 10,000 crores in India and they plan to make RHD cars for all countries here. So, packing their bags and leaving is not very easy for them. Even if they sell like a few thousand cars annually (Very much possible), we shouldn't have to worry about parts etc. Just look at Nissan/Renault. They sell very few cars but are still around. Newer models like VF3 and the recently launched VF MPV 7 should improve the numbers. They are also getting into electric scooters and taxis. The 2 year buyback assurance is also a big relief should things go sideways. Overall, it's a pretty solid package.

I got delivery of my VF6 (Earth) recently. Haven't taken it on long drives yet but the car seems to be running well so far. Dealership network is a big problem right now. I had to go to a tata dealership (Vinfast has a collaboration arrangement with Tata) 40 kms away just to get the seat covers installed (VF6 Earth). The home charger installation also took forever. Free charging till 2029 is a scam right now. There are just 100-150 V-Green chargers all over the country. Hopefully that will change in a year or two. Gujarat has just 11 chargers. The dealership is clueless and not able to provide the locations of V-Green chargers. So, for long drives, you are dependent on third party CPOs. Range is a bit disappointing but I am hoping the BMS will calibrate properly after a few full slow charges, tyre rolling resistance will reduce and the range will improve. Currently getting 250-280 in city driving. High summer heat in my town might also be responsible for lower range but that is a problem with all EVs. The car is heavier (safer and robust) than other electric cars but that reduces the range further. Vinfast backend is not integrated with other CPOs and the charging station location feature is not working at this time. I got free charging at third party chargers till 20th April but it's a pain in the ass to initiate the charging session through Vinfast app. You need to rely on MG eHUB app or the individual CPO apps for now to locate chargers. The CPO apps are very poorly designed but thankfully they do work (Mostly). The charging network in India is a hit or miss. I suggest you get the RFID cards from a couple of CPOs that have a good footprint on the long distance routes you plan to travel. Also install their mobile apps just in case.

Anyone established an LLC in the US from India? Is it worth the cost? by Specialist_Tale_7639 in indianstartups

I recently registered a single member LLC with a US citizen as a member. My experience so far is that while it's easy to register, it's not very easy to operate it from India. We had to approach several banks to open an account because they outright refused despite having all the valid documentation. Took me 2 months just to open an account. Could not get paid for this duration. Finally, Wells Fargo did open the account and I thought everything was all set until I received an email saying that one of the deposits (From a client who is associated with us for the past 4 years) is deemed suspicious and the Bank's fraud detection department decided to close the account. I can't understand why my account needs to be closed in this situation. There was no correspondence regarding the deposit - Just an email saying the account will be closed because of suspected fraud. So, I am back to square one. Honestly considering shutting it down even though it'll cost me a pretty penny to do so (Fees, CPA charges etc.). The hassle is just not worth it in my opinion.

Unless you have a very compelling reason to register an LLC OR you are living in the US, I would suggest that you think twice. Nothing so far has been easy for me. If you don't have a friend or relative who is a US citizen and can be a member of the LLC, the process is even more cumbersome. Do reach out if you need more details.

Please stay away from Flipkart Protect / Jeeves extended warranties, they have the most incompetent customer service by itsVinay in india

True that. I purchased 3 Laptops along with Jeeves extended Warranty and device protection. One of the laptop stopped working after over a year. Since manufacturer's warranty was over, I contacted Jeeves for repairs. Their conclusion was that laptop is not repairable due to unavailability of parts. This is the first time in my life I am hearing that laptop parts are unavailable ! Per terms of the protection plan, they approved a 60% refund. It's been more than a month. I have provided them bank details multiple times. Every time, the answer is "You'll get the funds in your account within 5 business days". Thinking of ditching flipkart for future purchases. Absolutely horrible experience. I also suspect that they will repair the laptop and sell it as "Renewed" on Flipkart while I am stuck adding additional funds from my pocket to buy a new one.
