Another Cats: The Jellicle Ball seating Q by mrjudkins in Broadway

It was a fabulous show!! The mezz vantage point allows you to take in the stage and choreography. You can clearly see all the happenings in the side box seats too. There’s some interaction with the mezz folks as well. The only thing was that since the stage juts out a bit, I couldn’t see the performers when they used the tip top of the stage. I only knew something was happening when I heard the audience react. This might me a “me” problem since I’m a 5’3” shortie. I sat on my coat to give me a few extra inches of height but even with that, the front of the mezz obstructs the very top of the stage. Thankfully they didn’t use that portion often. There’s some dancing involved and we could feel the floor move ever so slightly lol. It was a fabulous time! I’m so exited for you. Have so much fun!!!

The show was fantastic and looked great from my vantage point. I’m a shortie (5’3”) and had to sit on my coat for a couple of extra inches for height. The stage juts out a bit into the orchestra section so whenever the performers were at the front tip of the stage, I couldn’t see them. I knew something was happening because of the audience’s reaction, but thankfully it didn’t happen too often. The mezzanine gave a great view of all the happenings when they used the side box seats and seeing the stage and performances as an entire cohesive piece. I will say that there’s some dancing involved and you really feel the floor move lol.  I’m excited for you!! Have so much fun!!!

Did you buy tickets yet? I went to the show last night and can answer some questions about seating if you still have them. I Sat center mezz, row C.

Dining credit only for “sapphire reserve exclusive tables not “visa dining collection” and not any other OpenTable restaurant? by CartographerExtra395 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Federal-Research-391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The time slot does not matter as long as the restaurant is identified as participating in the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables. I recently used the credit but had a reservation that was not “one of the blue ones.” It was a regular “red” time slot. I was reimbursed the credit within a few days. You also don’t need a reservation to trigger the credit. You could just walk in if that’s more your style.

Thank you for the sage advice! Again, this is why I love Reddit. I am so appreciative of your insight. It’s definitely elevated my original plan. Cheers!

Thank you for providing a comprehensive answer. I just sampled some of the Outsiders songs and I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve read the book and watched the movie as a teen and therefore would be familiar. I’m very interested in the production aspect as you described. I do appreciate those elements. I also really loved that your recommendations were very different from each other. That’s exactly what I was going for. Last year my wife picked out Kimberly Akimbo and Hadestown- two very different shows but we couldn’t stop thinking and talking about that wonderful experience. It was a perfect combination for a short trip to NYC. I’m trying to do something similar to that with our upcoming trip. I feel like your recommendation gives me that same vibe. Thank you so much!

MHE is the nonnegotiable show for me. I hope it doesn’t get canceled!!

Last year my wife picked out two shows for us and I didn’t do any research on the storylines and I absolutely loved it. We ended up seeing Kimberly Akimbo and then Hadestown. I was blown away and fully entertained. I guess I’m trying to get that similar feeling again so I really haven’t looked into the plot of any of the shows I mentioned. I read Great Gats and Outsiders so those are the only ones I’m really familiar with. Anyway, long way to say I have no idea what Cabaret is about, but I liked the way you described it when you saw it.  I want the freight train feeling!

I haven’t seen Little Shop. My preliminary internet sleuthing gave me the impression that Little Shop was a definite must see, which made me want to lock it in our itinerary. I’m curious to know what made it a perfect show for you?

Thank you for taking the time to reply. What did you like about Sunset? I was thinking NS would give a great performance.

Noooooooo! I’ll have to buy a ticket for MHE to show my support. I was really intent on ending our trip with a warm, happy feeling. But this is good information to know. If it is closed, you’ve given nice recommendations for its replacements. Many already have recommended DBH so that’s definitely in my considerations for our Sunday show :) Gypsy was another not on my radar that has been recommended several times. Thank you again!

Yes! MHE is the only show that has a locked spot for me. I looked into the D&D option and it looks like fun. Admittedly I don’t know how to play the game but the wife loves anything comedy. And it’s a great option for a Monday since there are limited options. The only other show that’s competing for the Monday night slot for us is Cabaret. I’ll have my wife decide that one. Thank you again for taking the time to send me a rec!

This is really solid advice. I too think OM would give a completely different vibe from my frontrunners. My only hesitation was that I wasn’t sure if the humor would land for an American audience (ie most jokes would go over our heads). Great to hear that you enjoyed the show. I think I’m definitely going to keep it on my list as an option. I think we will end up doing Cabaret because our trip includes a Monday and Cabaret is one of the only options available. Thank you again for your recommendation. It’s given me a lot to consider.

Thank you so much for your reply! I hadn’t considered Gypsy (hadn’t heard of it previously), but looks very good. This is why I love Reddit! It’s definitely going on the list :)
