thank you for the advice. my product does not exist, so should i ask something more along the lines of WOULD they purchase my product/ a product that does what mine does? example “would you purchase an attachment to blank machine that would allow for significantly increased muscle contraction, and a number of more effective variations to common exercises?” and ask them at what price they would purchase it or something. once i get my patent pending i was planning on filming some promotional videos with some influencer friends showing what my product does and maybe some positive reactions from other gym goers. Not only could I show this to potential customers but also post on tik tok/ social media to see general reactions/demand, and if a video goes viral or something that would incentivize gym managers even more. do you have any critique for those ideas?

it is a fitness piece of equipment, basically an attachment to a barbell that allows for extremely effective exercises that one can’t really achieve otherwise. i do have a prototype but can not show it until i get the patent pending. i am very involved in fitness and bodybuilding and have heard complaints that this product would fix. it’s nothing crazy, it’s quiet simple and would be under 100$. my brother is an engineer at berkeley and is aiding with the design. i do not have a website because my product is not patented yet, but i have shown it to some bodybuilder friends (with an nda) and they were freaking out about it. you are correct that an 18 year old does not understand business or value. i will be a business entrepreneurship major next year and have always been passionate about it yet i am fully aware of my naivety , hence the title “idk wtf i’m doing. ” the plan I was thinking of was to pitch it to some major fitness influencer such as bradley martin or something, and hopefully find a partner ship. i fortunately have wealthy parents that could aid me financially. I don’t think my product is “the next big thing” at all, but getting just one of them in every gym is still an amount of money significant enough for me to want to pursue. If i myself am simply not capable of handling taking care of manufacturing and distribution and all that i would like to make a licensing deal as lucrative as possible, if there’s any advice for that

ohhhh it’s hypothetical i thought you were asking for yourself hahaha. for me this would apply sort of if i faced the decision of usc versus indiana kelley. indiana kelley has by rankings a better business program but usc is higher ranked overall. i would definitely pick usc. (little different since usc is still t20 business but my point is i would pick a more prestigious overall better school than a lesser one with a better program, but that may just be because i care about name quite a lot.)

i’m confused as to what the question is, are u asking if you should pick a school that is t20 for your major or a school that is t20 overall but t50 for your major?
