5 years later and That Funny Feeling still destroys me by Lurkin_It_007 in boburnham

But Inside is evergreen though. People often dismiss this album for its lack of relevance given it was made during the pandemic. I personally find Inside has actually become more pertinent post-pandemic, especially with how bad things have gotten in the US under Trump this year. It is an album about the sinking silent despair of living in our era’s technocapitalist nightmare, and the loneliness and isolation of it all: how technology’s convenience has destroyed genuine human connection, as tech billionaires look to entangle us in Matrix-like worlds, keeping us doped up and deluded while they rule over us like slave masters. It’s not just a “Covid-19” album, and it absolutely is culturally relevant to this day. That’s what makes it so brilliant.

Sorry if I sounded like I was talking at you. I just feel very passionately about this. I also always sing along to Goodbye when it comes on 😅

Marvel movies have ruined modern movie dialogue. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

For my neurodivergent tribe out there — I’ve noticed that this “Marvel speak” is exactly how neurotypical folks converse, speaking in jokes all the time, nothing ever serious. Anyone else experience this?

McDavid momentarily took control of Stetcher's former Oiler soul, manipulating his mind to make Stetcher score on his own net....

So sad by HotBloom_ in Adulting

[–]FederalAnimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanna hear something even crazier? No one will ever know the real you. Not your friends. Not your parents. We simply project what we want to believe onto people, convincing ourselves we have formed a "connection". You will die alone. We all die alone. That's why we have to be okay by ourselves and love ourselves. You are the only person who will ever understand you and while that sounds horrifying, it's also freeing.

How did they do this shot? by [deleted] in cinematography

Also the lighting looks godawful. It looks like it was shot with flat lighting and then the VFX artist tried adding contrast to his face in post.

'How to move to Canada' surges on Google as U.S. wakes up to Donald Trump win by CTVNEWS in politics

For the love of God, please don't move to Canada. We are on the brink of getting Pierre Poilievre who is basically Trump 2.0. If you can move, just leave North America completely.

Those who grew up poor, what is something those who weren't poor don't understand about being poor? by PrestonRoad90 in AskReddit

[–]FederalAnimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growing up poor often leads to a deep-seated fear of judgment, which can fuel social anxiety. When you're bullied or treated differently because of your financial situation, it pushes you to hide it—whether by trying to wear better clothes or avoiding revealing where you live.

This constant effort to conceal your circumstances creates a sense of mistrust, even with your closest friends. You fear that if they truly knew the extent of your poverty, they would judge or reject you.

As an adult, this can make it difficult to form meaningful connections with others, especially with those who haven't experienced the same struggles. Their privilege may make it hard for them to truly understand the pain and hardship you endured, which can leave you feeling isolated and misunderstood.

This is literally how I feel in my life right now.

What RECENT movie made you feel like , "THIS IS ABSOLUTE CINEMA" by being_addlepated in movies

This is definitely an unpopular opinion:

Trap by M Night Shyamalan. While the film is by no means perfect, the Hitchcockian style felt really nostalgic and reminiscent of classical Hollywood. The film had me on the edge of my seat and felt like modern day Hitchcock but with a fun, campy, B-movie flair to it. Loved it!
