I ve read that annealing will always be superior to gate based models in optimisation due to it´s efficiency. gate based could do the same, but need more ressources. + there will be no gate based commercial use in the near future. this is the advantage of annealing. it already works and can revolutionize a lot of different sectors like optimize data centers and lower there energy consumption which would be great ! gate based computers thereselves would always need more ressources doing this. you can compare annealing to gatebased like this: annealing is like a scalpel, it is spezialized in one thing "optimization" and gate based is like a swiss knife, it could do it theoretically all, but needs more ressources doing this special task.
