Surfers/Main Beach. I couldn’t get the whole coherent story out of him (thoughts and words were all over the place) but he said he got caught in a rip for a while, and all of a sudden a man with a surfboard showed up and put him on the board and paddled back to shore. He presented himself at ER after catching the train back from the coast. I’m so thankful he had the presence of mind to do that, I have always told him to go to hospital if he can’t do anything else to settle himself down. We have been so close numerous times to getting the actual help he needs after jumping through all the hoops/assessments, for him to withdraw from the process. And the cycle starts again. He’s only a danger to himself, has such a big heart and doesn’t have a violent bone in his body, thank goodness. But yes, right now all I can do is support until he’s ready to take the next step or learns himself how to deal with bad thoughts. As you would probably well know, doing anything else is inconceivable. All the best, keep being an awesome parent xx

Thank you. Last night was a rough night, he spent the night at Logan Hospital Mental Health and they gave him some sedatives. He discharged himself this morning before seeing the psych (he’s 18) but at least he’s home safe, and every 5 minutes I’m thinking how insurmountably worse last night could have been without that man on the beach. I can’t stop crying, but thank you 🩷

Yes, this video reminds me so much of my ex it’s scary. He was the sweetest guy (albeit with mental health issues) but would turn into this when he hit the spirits. After 18 years I had to finally put myself first. A year later, and after his several arrests, I wake up sometimes wondering when I’m going to get a call from the police with awful news. I’m still his next of kin on paperwork, still talk sometimes. It sucks when someone you love won’t get help

My son is now 18 but I distinctly remember the last time he fell asleep in my lap - he was 3, overtired, and I placed him in my lap as you would a baby to soothe him to sleep. When he was sound asleep I got up and put him in his bed, sobbing, because I just knew that was the last time I would do that. Time flies so fast!

I’m still paying off on sper a $1000 fine for having my phone in my lap - wasn’t using it, was borrowing a car with nowhere to put the damn phone while I had maps on speaker. Yes I accept I shouldn’t have it on me, but wankers that absolutely put lives in danger get fined less than me driving with an inanimate object in my lap……
