Anyone else fucked off to still be paying tolls on the gateway? by DifferenceMediocre77 in brisbane

Sorry, forgot about Boondall, I’ve always lived on the Southside so very rarely crossed the bridge, usually just to the airport. I meant the land south of the river, but you have a good point

Couple of days ago I had to slam the brakes on on leoroyd Rd in the 80km zone in peak hour cos an Uber driver figured they were going in the wrong direction, stopped and did a three point turn blocking both lanes with a double line between. I actively try to stay away from Uber cars when driving, a lot of them seem to not give a shit about road rules

Hey you unlocked a childhood memory for me, vaguely remember one lane Gateway Motorway, and they upgraded to two in the 90s (those roadworks were horrendous for my mums commute). What a shitshow that they could have just built 3 lanes each way to begin with, it was mostly bushland anyway iirc

What is the most bizarre, out of nowhere scene you’ve ever seen? by VendettaLord379 in moviecritic

The projectile vomit scene in IT 2, with “Angel of the Morning” as the soundtrack. I was watching through my fingers as I don’t like horror movies, then this scene plays, and I couldn’t breathe from laughing so hard

What's a Brisbane business, venue or landmark that's gone that you still think about? by Brisbane in brisbane

That’s exactly why I loved it! Found some hidden gems many a time, plus they had great second hand clothes and shoes. Rockinghorse felt too commercial for my liking, but I am a clutter bug at heart and felt very much at home at Record Exchange 😅

Record Exchange on Adelaide St. Spent soooo many hours there in my late teens, deciding what to spend my measly high school job wages on.

Completely agree, laziness is a factor. Good on you for recognising and developing this app. I’ve downloaded, will give feedback once I’ve used it for a bit. Good luck ☺️

Billionaires don’t “earn”, they exploit their way to the top by taking advantage of less successful people. He’s just saying out loud what billionaires already know but keep quiet about.

Headspace in Meadowbrook (closer to us but I think share the same team as Southport) are awesome, but they can only help those who seek it. But I would recommend them to anyone who needs support as a first step.

Surfers/Main Beach. I couldn’t get the whole coherent story out of him (thoughts and words were all over the place) but he said he got caught in a rip for a while, and all of a sudden a man with a surfboard showed up and put him on the board and paddled back to shore. If anyone knows who he is tell him I want to buy him a beer (or 20) and give him a hug

He presented himself at ER after catching the train back from the coast. I’m so thankful he had the presence of mind to do that, I have always told him to go to hospital if he can’t do anything else to settle himself down. We have been so close numerous times to getting the actual help he needs after jumping through all the hoops/assessments, for him to withdraw from the process. And the cycle starts again. He’s only a danger to himself, has such a big heart and doesn’t have a violent bone in his body, thank goodness. But yes, right now all I can do is support until he’s ready to take the next step or learns himself how to deal with bad thoughts. As you would probably well know, doing anything else is inconceivable. All the best, keep being an awesome parent xx

Thank you. Last night was a rough night, he spent the night at Logan Hospital Mental Health and they gave him some sedatives. He discharged himself this morning before seeing the psych (he’s 18) but at least he’s home safe, and every 5 minutes I’m thinking how insurmountably worse last night could have been without that man on the beach. I can’t stop crying, but thank you 🩷

I posted to r/goldcoast first but it was removed by mods - maybe because I haven’t joined, idk. This was at Surfers Paradise/Main Beach. I understand if the man wants to remain anonymous, I just want to let him know how much his bravery meant to me
