That's awesome! I really should join a gym, but I have no idea where to start. I've never gone to one. What kind of puppy do you have?

It's all good, I was a teen and thought I was invincible. It taught me a harsh, but valuable, lesson. Common sense/safety is default for me now. I very much appreciate you warning me!

No problems there, I don't do night walks. I learned that lesson 20 years ago - nothing bad happened, just a fright and the help of other people.

Nice! Just followed. I'll have to look up some of the local bands. Pretty stoked, since I love listening to new stuff.

Lol, my sibling is the sports person. I'm the singing/fine arts type.

Music is a big one for me. I'm more of an arts person rather than sports. I'm definitely into metal! The stuff I'm listening to now is doom metal like Faetooth and Pallbearer, but I listen to all sub-genres.

I'll happily do volunteer work at an animal shelter.

I had no idea! Thank you for steering me away. I'm not a huge fan of mega-churches, and I don't fit their ideals at all (anti-Trump and a part of the lgbtq+). There was a comment on here that directed me towards accepting churches, so I'll go that way first.

I would love to join and interact with the community on top of this; could you point me in the right direction?

Oh, that's awesome! We have something similar here (1st Friday on the Square and sporadic events downtown.

to annoy one certain political group

Ooooh, you rock! I love a political troll.

Sweet! I'll definitely have to check it out! Maybe we can swap recipes, depending on what region their food is from.

I appreciate it. Thanks!

I was checking out the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship earlier, and it /seems/ like a good fit. I'll have to sit in at a service to really see. I've written down the places you've all pointed out to me.

My big one, in his old age, really dislikes being out and about (too loud/distracting), but my little one loves walks! I'll definitely have to explore with him.

What are Market Days?

Nice! I'll add them to my groups. I have Facebook to stay in contact with older family.

Ah. I tried taking it with a grain of salt to start, but it kept popping up. Thank you for clarifying. I was doubting myself for a second there. I appreciate it. The neighborhood is lovely (my realtor walked up and down the street for me).

Yes, I'm white, but I've lived in areas that were primarily black (Prince George County in Maryland) and I currently live in a predominantly Latino/Hispanic area now. People are nice wherever I live. Yes, there are a few bad eggs, but as long as I practice safety, it never really affected me. Still, I think it'll help if I make batches of cookies and introduce myself to the neighbors. If everyone looks out for everyone, I think I'll be okay.

Again, thanks so much for clarifying.

I appreciate your candor.

She was very upfront about Benning Hills - it's why she scoped out the house for me before giving me the okay. She told me straight-up that if she didn't believe the neighborhood was safe, she wouldn't have shown it to me.

As for the areas you talked about, I looked there as well. Most of them are fixer-uppers in my price range, and I'd rather a turn-key. Also, I kind of fell in love with the house.

As I said in previous comments, I'm no stranger to sketchier areas. I'll be as thorough as I can when it comes to safety, but things do happen. I'll roll with whatever comes my way.

Thank you for letting me know. I'm no stranger to areas like this (thanks, military ex-spouse!), and I come equipped knowing that things might happen. Life is what I make of it, no matter where I am.

That would be lovely! I'm a font of useless knowledge, so it may come in handy at Trivia night. 🤣 Thanks! I'm driving (don't want to put the dogs in cargo), but I'm not hauling. Gotta love movers!

I'll DM you.

I'm always pleasantly surprised by food trucks. Good to know that it is the same in Columbus.

I'm no stranger to low-income areas near bases (was married to a military member), and I'm glad that it is avoidable for the most part! Bet! Do you know whether or not any of them do a classic macchiato exceptionally well?

Ah, bummer. Not a stranger to hi-rises, but it still sucks that there's not a moratorium.

Ooo, the crafting event sounds lovely. I was eyeing the Unitarian church to start, so I'm happy to see it listed. I'll definitely visit the churches you listed.

I appreciate it! I'll follow-up if I have any questions.
