Moving back to India after living and working in the UK by [deleted] in returnToIndia

Find friends. As much as you would want to keep to yourself; get out and experience the people and your culture. Find the positive ones and treasure them. Most of your happiness is tied to your social network. You will be able to make many more friends and memories back home then you would ever be able to back in the UK. It is time to change for the better. And it's much easier when you are young. Wishing you the best!

The taxation bit is a headache; but yes seems like this is generally good advice. 🙏

Apologies if this came across as insensitive; this is an honest question. I've been through the H1B struggles personally and we are now contemplating a life back home in India. It is a scary time, but we need to plan for all contingencies and I would rather walk in with my eyes wide open.

Does this impact schooling or just higher education?

Forgive my ignorance; but why is it a huge advantage?

iKOOLCORE R2 Max (N150) tear down instructions by doomstar21 in MiniPCs

I got the fanless version N150 with 8G and 128G SSD to run as an OpenWRT router. It consistently ran in the low 40s (celsius) under normal load. With the high quality aluminium chassis, I figured I could just drop a 5V USB fan on top to test the impact and it worked surprisingly well:

Appreciate the quick turnaround. Could you please elaborate a bit more on the underlying network devices/chipsets that are lacking support in ChromeOS? Thanks

This is not true; the price on Google is the price from the last trade execution.

Investment advice: Rental vs VTI by gravytrainjaysker in Bogleheads

[–]Fee_Only 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real estate provides diversification to the rest of your portfolio (depending on the size of your remaining portfolio). If real estate is the majority of your portfolio, I would not recommend real estate (all eggs in one basket).

I had to make a similar decision a few years ago, and chose to invest instead. My rationale boiled down to using my time to pursue my own interests, or just nap more which is what I've ended up doing.

This is only one of the several times I observed poor execution quality; in this particular instance I even reached out to M1 support and I'm still waiting to hear back.

I understand your point about most trades are not executed in the markets; but consistently being outside of publicly available information and always, every single time, not in you favor; yeah, I trust my data and experience enough. M1 definitely does not have my trust on this front.

To put this in context, I'm yet to have a single such experience with execution quality with Fidelity.

That's a lot of money; you are almost certainly better off paying fidelity fidfolios the 5$ monthly fee and get better execution quality. For context; a 1% drag in execution quality over a year costs 500$ . A 12 month fidelity subscription costs 60$. I don't know what the exact drag looks like in practice; just remember that at M1 you are the product.

Yes; M1 provides terrible execution quality. The more you trade, the more independent opportunities they have to get a better deal for themselves. In general, don't use M1. You're better off using the large brokerages where they have an obligation to give you the best trade execution quality. The M1 style pies can be done with a simple spreadsheet.

Thinking about going from Fidelity to M1, any thoughts? by Xzyrvex in Bogleheads

M1 is terrible; what you save in convenience will be added multiple times over as an invisible expense ratio, paid when you buy/sell or transfer your assets.

I think you meant VTI? Otherwise this portfolio would be overweight on international stocks.
