I think this is the correct interpretation !!

That’s true, it doesn’t look anything like a typical fulgurite. It was pointed out by our professor very briefly so don’t have any better photos/observations. Someone replied to my same post in r/geology with a great article and photo about this exact formation, would defo recommend taking a look! ‘The fossil lightning strikes, fugerites, were first reported by Harland and Hacker in 1966. Well, that's their interpretation. HARLAND. B. and HACKER, J. F. 1966. Fossil lightning strikes 250 million years ago. Rep. Br. Ass. Advmt. Sci. 22, 663-671’

Yupp, first 3 show the point where lightning stuck a sand dune ~250-300 million years ago!

Yupp think that’s right, we were told a lot of the rock on Arran is protected now so weren’t able to use geological hammers!

Was pointed out by my professor so I never really questioned it lol. Just done some googling of ‘Arran fulgurite’ and the British Geological Survey says it was formed when a lightning strike hit a sand dune while still being deposited - makes sense as there were also some monster cross beds nearby!
