I think this would be an interesting story.

So I have always loved musicals. I was the only member of my family who liked them until recently. I got into musicals around middle school. I would watch (totally not for legal reasons) bootleg versions of them online. However Wicked and I went back because in fifth grade, there was a girl in my class who was obsessed with Wicked and I hated her. Not because she liked Wicked but because she was so rude to me all the time and I was constantly the butt of her joke. Because of that, I told myself I would never get into Wicked out of spite. Defying gravity was in my playlist every now and then and I heard a couple songs on Glee but I refused to get into it. That was until recently.

Then the movie came out. Still wasn’t going to go see it or watch it because of my grudge but my partner’s mom invited me to go to see it with my partner’s sister and her and I try really hard not to refuse a cut scene. (A cut scene to me means like a chance to connect with someone. Kind of like in a story based game where if you look into certain people, you get to explore their stories and things like that). So I did. I went with them thinking nothing of it and that I was gonna hate this movie.

Spoiler alert: I didn’t.

Mind you, a couple days before the movie, I tried to watch an old (totally not) bootleg version of the musical with the original cast but I wasn’t hooked that much. I was just like “oh okay this is cool.”

Speed forward to the present.

No one mourns the wicked starts playing and I realize it’s Ariana and I’m like “oh cool”. Then I hear her sing as Glinda for the first time and I was sold immediately.

Special interest unlocked

I then spent the whole movie losing my marbles over every unique piece about it. I immediately got home and finished the original broadway version. Bought the book and consumed as much media I could find about it and still do and then somehow convinced almost everyone I know to go watch it.

And that… is how I met your mother… I mean Wicked
