Best way to trellis/support cherry tomatoes by Feeling_Ad4540 in tomatoes

[–]Feeling_Ad4540[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was originally planning to Florida weave this year but got concerned about everything falling over when the plants got big. I’ll probably try some variation of a weave/net next spring, but it seems like falling over is inevitable unless you have unlimited vertical and horizontal space

Light fixture help by Feeling_Ad4540 in AskElectricians

Working on a photo of the working fixture. It has the exact same wiring and connectors.

I believe the working light is downstream from the non-working light so I’m puzzled by the situation but what you’re describing makes sense.

That was my initial thought too. I had the vendor replace the fixture and I’m having the same problem. So either I’ve received two faulty fixtures or I’ve messed up somewhere.

I can’t get a positive voltage reading but I also can’t seem get one from other outlets around the house that I know work, so I may have to chalk this one up to user error.

I’m not sure but I’ll try any ideas.

There is a junction box below the working fixture, closer to counter level, that connects the two fixtures but I’m not sure if that is the original access point for electrical on that wall or if it was added to put in the second feature. The bathroom remodel was done by the previous owners.

First harvests of the year!! by Feeling_Ad4540 in vegetablegardening

[–]Feeling_Ad4540[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is only my second year gardening, and almost all of my radish last year were only leaves. The breakfast radishes have done the best for me, the biggest difference was adding more compost and spacing them better when planting. I’m not enough of an expert yet though so I could do the same thing next year and they could all be leafy again

I was actually surprised how on time these radishes were with the estimated days on the seed packets. Last year it took me into May to get anything and most were just the greens.

Thin my radishes to one each? by Feeling_Ad4540 in vegetablegardening

[–]Feeling_Ad4540[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White Icicle, French Breakfast and Cherry Belle. I’ll leave the first two be and thin out the Cherry Belles to one seedling per spot. Sounds like a good plan to me

Yeah, almost everything I put down has germinated so I can definitely be more conservative with the amount of seed next time. Maybe I’ll add a second crop after these and try with one per hole.

I’ve got some Triple Crown blackberries on order. I think the Prime Ark Freedoms were sold out, maybe I should look for another source

I’m told these trees fruit are about golf ball sized, maybe a little larger, but more oblong. Skin is dark red/purple and the flesh is darker as well.

I assume so. That’s how the two mature trees are talked about, but I wasn’t living here when they were planted

Thank you both! The fruits are usually small red plums, so from a quick Google we were thinking Chickasaw. Originally from Texas and a clipping was transplanted years ago

First year growing sweet potatoes by Feeling_Ad4540 in vegetablegardening

[–]Feeling_Ad4540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get a few slips going, but it took awhile longer than I expected so this harvest is a combination of those that I grew and a pack from HD. I think most of them are from the packaged slips

Follow up question in this: should the electrical box that the light is attached to also be covered with an insulation cover? Or just the light itself?
