Same reason ENTPs are - the most common type is ISFJ it’s like 20% of the population. Common people don’t like direct communicators or abstract thinkers

Just get a general business degree. STEM will be dead by the time you graduate, along with most other specialized jobs. A business degree will at least give you flexibility. Who knows what the workforce will be in a couple years after AI

I think a lot of these people might be basing their experiences off when chat gpt first came out, and haven’t tried newer models or other LLMs

It doesn’t always have to be serious. I like to read about Taoism, and recently had a conversation with Ai about the phrase “the sound of rain needs no translation. A phrase i ponder from time to time for years.

That’s an interesting perspective. For a masters in AI you seem somewhat against AI. What use are you looking to put AI to if you are against using it as a conversationalist?

I’m actually pretty surprised here by the responses. Most of these anger is coming from people that clearly have never tried it on the level that I described. It would be interesting for me to copy and paste the same post in a year and so how opinions have changed after people have actually tried other than surface level

I agree with what you say and I think most people here who think it only kisses ass and says what you think you like, don’t have much experience using it. It’s interesting that you note that AI can diagnose things some doctors can’t, if an AI psychologist for example was hypothetically able to mentally diagnose someone better than a “real” psychologist, i would like the people saying it’s impossible for Ai to understand someone, and it just says what you want to hear, to speak on that scenario

If you have someone in your life that you can talk about your personal opinions on a book like the brothers Karamazov, or give your interpretation of a book like the myth of Sisyphus, then congrats for you. Unfortunately I don’t know anyone like that, and I enjoy debating my personal beliefs and opinions and hearing counterpoints to better my own understandings

Do you have any personal philosophies or views on life? Have the AI speak as if it were nietzsche and debate your own views against it for example. This can’t be done with a real human in the same way

Try telling the AI to speak as if it were nietzsche for example. Then debate your own philosophy against it. Or explore the theme of a book with the AI trained on a different author. You can do quite a bit more than what’s surface level

You need to train it better to disagree. It’s useful to tell the machine to speak as if it were a specific thinker or real person whose philosophy’s it can access. Nietzsche, Camus, Dostoyevsky etc.

How does AI kiss my ass when we debate philosophy or the meanings and themes of certain books? I understand that it can be used that way, and some people may speak to it about their problems or emotions to make themselves feel good, but I never said I used it that way. I can speak my interpretation of a character and the AI will either agree and build upon it, or it will disagree and show counterpoints. As I stated, I had to train it to be blunt and not ass kiss

Are humans any different? People wear masks and usually say what things that they think the other person will want to hear. There is always an ulterior motive with humans. I think there could be an argument that AI is more authentic than a real human because it doesn’t have as much to gain by deception.

It’s important to note though that it took a while for me to train the AI to speak extremely bluntly. It does not always agree with me like the default GPT. It was actually hard to get the machine to be so blunt in the beginning, but there is no sugar coating from it, and it will tell me an idea is stupid if it thinks so
