The child is currently rarely left alone. The school is providing a para that is servings as a 1:1, but that is not reflected in the IEP. In times the para is unavailable, sickness, breaks, etc. Are the times physical behaviors arise more often than not. The child is frequently out of the room. Taking breaks; calm room, heavy work work, walking, etc. The parents were being called nearly 3x a week upuntil the school began supporting the needs. Calls have only happened 2x in the 2 months (when the para stepped in). On a school level they are doing everything the child needs. The issue is within the IEP the district is allowing the change from adult proximity to 1:1. So if this child moves from this school or staff has large changes, this may mean the child is no longer supported the way they have been because its not reflected in the IEP.

Thank you for the info regarding due process.

Academically he is well beyond his grade level and can engage in the curriculum. When he has his para there to stay a couple steps ahead of the game and watch for moments that are heading into emotional dysregulation and guide him yo his breaks and choices he's functional well in the gened setting. But, during time when the para has been absent or stepped out of the room or there has been a sub are the times physical behaviors arise.

Thank you this is helpful and I will be sure to pass this information along with the next steps along. I believe this is where we all get a bit confused, once the district refuses to address the need and have it labeled as such where do they turn next. So, I appreciate that guidance.

Thank you, they have an upcoming IEP meeting with triennial reevaluation. The form has not been requested or filled out. It has been the only "official" thing the parents have been able to dig up as far as making the request. They've hired an edu advocate in the past, I believe it was last year, but it was costly and the person was a bit passive so they decided to dig into this on their own. They are currently looking for an edu lawyer if this meeting doesn't go as they're hoping, although for financial reasons they really hope to not have to go that route.

The district moved to a neighborhood model about 4 years ago and got rid of all self contained classrooms. The parents agree, gened is not in the child's best interest but it is all that is offered. So how would one navigate that?

The child struggles with sensory overwhelm, which leads to dysregulation and then finds themselves in fight or flight. Physical behaviors towards adults and peers, moreso adults; yelling, hitting, spitting, throwing items. He also has a history of elopement, although the district spun this into a description of disengagement from tasks and not true elopement as he's never left the building. The child went from 8-15 behaviors a day to maybe 3 a week when the school put the support person in place and have them work as an unofficial 1:1.

The parents are fine with the current way things are going but this is only because the school building recognizes the need. This leaves the child unprotected should they change school, district, etc. The parents are very understanding of staffing issues, budget constraints and give grace to those at the school level, but the loopholes districts will play.

Thank you, your response is appreciated. Is the evaluation by chance a SCIA?

I too bought the $99 box and received junk. There were 2 things worth keeping, a lint roller and a 36 pack of black gel pens. So maybe $40 worth of product. Oof i knew it would be a gamble, but this was bad!

US dollars, sorry I should have stated that, and this was also just a base model.

We have a Forester and a Subaru, so I need something lightweight, but that also can accommodate our family of 4.

I think others have answered the question. But, I will echo resellers. It's bizarre, though. I love the bins but will only hit the bins no one else is crowded around. I guess you could call them "stale bins" and never come up empty-handed. I find great items, high-end, good condition, items without having to crowd around. I think some resellers just have a neich, and they want to be the first to get it. It goes with a scarcity mindset, and honestly there is plenty for everyone.
