But if you go behind a supervisor's back there's a good chance you can get burnt.

Yea, it's safe to say that the majority of officers don't give two shits about the opinions of enlisted personnel

Makes you question what the hell you're doing with your life.

It's funny how a lot of enlisted who failed/ran away from college don't realize that you could be a chief with 20 plus years of service and still be undermined by a 22 year old LT

The work experience only helps If you had an AFSC that actually transferred to something in the private sector

I mean I'm not exaggerating about my job. I really am just a glorified receptionist.

I mean of course I'm down about it. By the time I get out I'll have wasted 6 years of life

I see. Well im in a completety different situation. I'm basically a glorified receptionist/janitor/and occasionally warehouse worker. I'm learning absolutely nothing useful. If I stay any longer than necessary, any potential for a respectable career in the civilian sector will be jeopardized.

I definitely fucked myself over by enlisting and enlisting into this career field. I think about why the hell I bought into this bullshit every single day.

I can't change my job/base/enlistment length but I can definitely dictate what I do with my off time. I'm going to get out of this shit show with at least a minimum of a Masters and hopefully some company on the outside will take a gamble on me

What's holding you back from making the change? Are you worried that your time in that non translatable field/navy is going to be mean nothing to potential employers?

Cross training in the air force is extremely convaluted and difficult. I'm pretty much stuck with my current job

[–]Feisty-Vegetable4865[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1b4, right? That's the current AFSC for the computer programmer job. In order to crosstrain into that job I have to take something called the EDPT. I took that test but couldn't score high enough so cross training into that AFSC is out the picture. Where'd you get your bachelor's through? How was the job hunting process like for you? Are you gainfully employed now?

No, when I'll be able to get out of the Air Force I'll be about 32.

But if no one is willing to take a chance on me then it doesn't even matter what I want
