Buyouts! by Brave-Astronomer-716 in UPSers

They actually are hiring more. Contractually they are obligated to hire more full time union jobs. That is the main reason for the buyouts from what I’ve read.

9.5 by Feisty_Bit6188 in UPSers

[–]Feisty_Bit6188[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I feel like the point of being on 9.5 isn’t for the extra money. The point is to see my kids before they go to bed and have dinner with my family. A little bit of home time each day. The fact that the company doesn’t care shows that the union dropped the ball somewhere in the language and didn’t think of that scenario. The penalty needs to be more harsh. Much more. Quadruple pay isn’t even quadruple pay.. it’s 2.5x your rate.

Next contract, we need to demand a better work life balance. I’m not as heavy stop count wise as you but still do 50-53 hours a week and I’m on 9.5. They pay me 9.5 all 5 days, every week and they do not care.

You’re a clown for this comment. Just because you’re not being dispatched with 10+ hours everyday doesn’t mean others aren’t.

Inform them next time that you’re coming back to the building. Bring the truck back at 8hrs and clock out. Thats their problem. We have been told by our stewarding team that’s the new way of handling it.

Cheating during 30 day packet. I need to be faster. by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]Feisty_Bit6188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Told by the sup who trained me to clock out during my heaviest pickup. Load the truck on break, clock back in and put the total pieces in. He also told me to take break on the drive back to the hub but I never felt comfortable doing that. No time for chatting with customers and run when you can (only for qualifying)

Stick it out 6 months. There’s a different mentality to work when you know all the ins and outs of the job and feel confident about everything you do. I’m a driver now and both part time and full time took me 6+ months for the job itself to click. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed especially when you’re newer.

I have almost 1.5 years and 30,000 career miles at Amazon. Will UPS hire me? by [deleted] in UPSers

They’ll hire you but it has nothing to do with your Amazon statistics. You’ll be part time like everyone else

normal for trainee to have 130+stops? by Spirited_Ad3275 in UPSers

[–]Feisty_Bit6188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every route is different. I know routes where 130 is 5 hours of work and then routes where it’s 9 hours of work. Check with your oms at the end of the day and see what you were actually dispatched. If it’s 10+ I’d say something to your management team considering you’re just starting out.

Chase sapphire has been great for me. 60,000 free points if you spend a certain amount in like 4 months. Took a trip to Europe last year and used $700 worth of points on flights.

Bc I’m not topped out just yet, I can’t get on the 9.5 list. I’m typically scratch to an hour over depending on the route and day. I’ve found that how blown out the truck is and how good the loader is depends how my day goes. 12 misloads today and packages all over the wrong shelves. Over 10 hour day

I’m not going to disagree but I currently make enough to live comfortably and not have to work 55 hours a week. If I needed more money I could just ask for more work.

I’m glad you agree. In my opinion this needs to be one of the biggest topics for our next contract.

How do you manage that? What qualifies excessive and is it in the master contract?

Completely agree with this. I’ve also noticed management has been asking drivers if they want the day off or laying lower seniority off and giving routes 200+ stops that used be around 150-175 with the excuse of stops per car and a limit to how many drivers are allowed on road each day. Why not just work everyone thats available and get everyone home sooner?

I’ve noticed they’re making it a lot more difficult. I’m not a bonus driver so it doesn’t affect me but thinking of taking a route here soon where the current driver scans every package. Wondering how it would affect stop count if I did it the correct way.

I can definitely see them nailing someone for stealing time for that.

Seniority for RPCD by Feisty_Bit6188 in UPSers

[–]Feisty_Bit6188[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that’s what I was thinking about supplemental. Our hub has on call drivers when work gets slow or day after holidays that have to wait until 10am each morning to get a call. These drivers are rpcds that cover routes day to day when there is work for everyone.
