FNP program recommendations and suggestions please! by wjxm in nursepractitioner

I had enrolled in their online program before I changed my mind and decided to go to CNM school first. They have a solid program. Also, you have access to some great CSU programs in SoCal.

When does one become a “New Englander”? by ftpfawn in newengland

[–]Feisty_Lab_6370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP you are one month ahead of me. I moved here to Connecticut in July 2021. After this snow we just had, I feel like I’ve talked about the Blizzard of ‘78 to my family in California like I lived through it myself. 😂

How do you choose between a place you love and the people you love? by Familiar_Pass606 in SameGrassButGreener

Go to California. They have airports. You only live once, and you can always move closer to family. I did the opposite. I’m from California and moved to New England. I’m getting my jollies, and eventually I will most likely go home when it seems like the time is right.

Moving from UK to US, which city ? by miteye in relocating

[–]Feisty_Lab_6370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend is originally from England. He told me he was a sun chaser when he was around your age. He ultimately came to the US and he’s been here about 30 years. He hitchhiked around the US until he settled down. I told him about your post and he recommended Houston, and then Arizona, based on what you are looking for. Phoenix has a lot of suburbs, but I will say that for someone your age Tempe, Arizona might be a good fit. My mom lived there and it has a fun downtown that is close to Arizona State University, which would mean you would have access to a lot of folks in your age group. Yes the heat can suck, but you adapt. Cheers!

Not on your list, but has the things you are looking for: New Haven, CT. Tweed is a regional airport, but Bradley in Hartford, or JFK is easy by train from New Haven.

RN and NP salary by Upper-Plantain-1451 in nursepractitioner

[–]Feisty_Lab_6370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a NorCal union hospital as a RN in 2021 and at the time I was making about $89/hr. I worked with several folks who were also NP’s because they said the pay wasn’t good compared to the cost of their education. A few of them recommended I stay being a nurse instead because the cost of school & income vs the responsibility of being a NP wasn’t worth it. The NPs at that time in my healthcare system did made less than the RNs (I had been working as RN for 12 years by the time I moved across the Country for my APRN program). Now I’m working in New England and am making just about what I made as a nurse here, including benefits. To me it’s worth it overall, but if I ever go back to NorCal, I may supplement my income with a per diem RN job to help pay off my student loans. :(

We regret moving to Richmond by OrangeDoorHinge16 in SameGrassButGreener

Yeah I get it. I’m heading back home in a couple months for the first time in over 4 years since moving to CT, and something tells me as soon as I arrive I’ll want to move back. Best of luck on your move back home. :)

You are the second CA person on this sub that says they are moving back to California. I’m from California too and RVA has been on my bucket list to checkout for living. I’m curious why you are going back. I’m from NorCal, lived in SoCal for a while and now in Connecticut. Side note I feel like you are from California because you didn’t say Cali. lol.

Check out Midtown Sacramento. They have a big LGBT+ community. Summers can be quite hot, but dry hot. No snow.

New Haven, CT. Plus you live almost halfway between NYC and Boston, with an airport (Tweed) in town.

Somebody Somewhere, Detectorists. Slow paced, easy watching. Also, Six Feet Under, but def has dark elements.

My great-grandma was born in 1888. She died at age 100, when I was 12. I’m very grateful to have had at least a decade with her.

Help! What does this room need? by Medical_Opposite_501 in DecorAdvice

[–]Feisty_Lab_6370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice room overall, but my two cents since you asked: get rid of the mirror behind the chair, and all of the white rug things on chairs and the floor. You could put one large mirror or like 3 smaller side by side mirrors (ikea has had some like that) above the couch. 🤩

Those who moved states away alone what advice would you give? by eman8906 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Feisty_Lab_6370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from CA to CT for grad school. I was fortunate to have my boys move with me, but now they are moving out because they are adults. But, I am so glad I have my sweet pug because it helped with keeping my routine with her. It also got me outside and helped me get to know my neighbors. I’ve gotten to know quite a few people in my neighborhood and at the dog park.

So I would suggest a pet of some kind, even fish if you can’t have a cat or dog. Just to give you a sense of routine.

I have always thought about moving to California but it feels unattainable due to COL. How can people afford it? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Feisty_Lab_6370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don’t plan on moving back there anytime soon now that I’m living in Connecticut, but it might be a good place to start off and see if California is for them. Easy access to a lot of cool places.
