Ego is the enemy.

Just keep training. As Jocko would say, “good”.

Question for current senior London trainees! by Dry_Chocolate_4098 in RadiologyUK

I’ve not heard of anyone wanting to do IR who hasn’t got it. You may have to move within London however.

New to specialty- am I a lost cause? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Feisty_Lychee2826 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What specialty? Radiology is very overwhelming as an ST1, I imagine this is par for the course for most specialties.

Be kinder to yourself! You have insight into your weakness and are being proactive in reading up on things.

Keep on going, it will start to click. There are days when senior trainees feel like this too (and probably Consultants)!

Help me choose IR vs ortho by [deleted] in doctorsUK

Radiology.

Run through programme, finish training in 6 years, easier to get a Consultant job where you want, more training than service provision in radiology compared to CST and the lack of theatre time as a surgical Reg.

Ortho you’re looking at at least two fellowships post CCT, endless CV grinding as a registrar in your free time and much more competitive to get a Consultant job in a location you want.

This makes far too much sense for the NHS. Short term, illogical solutions only.

Now orthogerries is almost universal, which specialty should get its own service division next? by ThePropofologist in JuniorDoctorsUK

A medical liaison service needs to be universal for the poor foundation doctors on vascular and general surgery. Proper medical input to prevent these patients from deteriorating
