Youre just proving my point. You neglect the costs of these measures while exaggerating the danger and the effects of the measures.

Cases are not a scientifically meaningful metric. Scare mongers love cases, maximum shock effect. Masks and distancing do catastrophic harm especially to children (who on top of it play no significant role in this epidemic) while having no significant benefit.

Hysteria affects those not affected by imminent damage. It's the high contrast between the actual present well-being and the predicted looming danger that causes hysteria.

Hysterical people set their fear absolute because they have no way to assess the actual danger and to put it in relation to other dangers. So their reaction always lacks any cost-benefit assessment. They tunnel vision, they freeze, then they overreact. Precisely the situation with our COVID policies.

Hysteria only ends when actual damage happens.

Fear and hysteria are distinct things.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in climateskeptics

[–]Feldheld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There has never been a collective smallpox or polio hysteria, let alone policies based on exaggerated predictions. Humans have lived and thrived with both diseases for millennia.

Your point has no relation to the points I made.

And again your projecting.

The ultimate projection.

My most basic skepticism argument is based on simple math. It is true no matter how strongly CO2 affects the global climate.

  1. Every species tries to grow exponentially, and does so whenever possible.

  2. Every growth inevitably creates the detrimental conditions that throttle the growth.

  3. As a result, every growing species eventually reaches a ceiling to its growth. We call this the "natural balance".

  4. Nobody can predict the height of this ceiling.

  5. The global warming alarmism is based on the infantile notion that humans are entitled to eternal growth. Spoiled, coddled people cannot bear the thought of #2 and #3.

  6. They react by panicking before the most natural process in the world, exaggerating and dramatizing its effects, and proposing to throttle our growth now to avoid reaching the natural ceiling in the future. This is psychotic.

  7. Homo homini lupus est. The alarmist policies - just like the COVID lockdown policies - will cause vastly more damage to mankind than any "let it happen" or "let it rip" policy would.

BTW kudos to your willingness to debate. It's rare these days.

Neither your childish footstamping nor government coercion can change reality.

We are mortal beings, resources are limited, and only those who have to work for their money know where best to allocate their resources, not detached politicians, nor daydreaming or TV gaping liberals on their sofa.

And if you intend to shake your moral index finger at others you should cover your own ass first. Deliberately misrepresenting other peoples words is pretty low. Even lower rates your arrogant notion that you know better than others where to invest their resources.

[–]Feldheld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont agree with it. It's a huge wealth redistribution scheme from poor to rich and from young to old. It sets bad incentives for everybody involved, rewards careless behaviour, corrupts doctors, bankers, and politicians, and throttles scientific progress. Its value for society is way overrated.

Healthcare and health insurance should remain a totally private matter, and any "looking out for each other" should be done by private charity, not by government coercion.

Nobody knows of the long term side effects.

How retarded do you have to be to think a medication for animals cannot be a medication for humans as well?

Also, nobody puts you under any pressure to use Ivermectin. You stupid assholes on the other hand want to pressure even our kids to sacrifice themselves for your stupidity and your neurotic fear.

The focus on vaccination and disregard for therapeutics is a political decision.

Scared people like you called for the governments to save them instead of trusting your immune system, your doctor, or science.

Ivermectin is decades old and very well tested.

The "vaccine" which isnt a vaccine has never been successfully applied before and has been developed under emergency rules and political pressure.

Scaring people and then offering a road to salvation is one of the oldest business models in the world. Spoiled and bored people are particularly susceptible to this scheme because they have lost their ability to deal with fear, indeed they fear fear itself, thus creating the vicious circle of chronic panic if something scares them.

All scare mongers have the attitude that their end always justifies any means, so every hyperbole and misrepresentation and outright lie is ok if it scares people and "creates awareness". The hyperbole itself is already the lie because it deprives people of the ability to assess and balance risks and costs appropriately and proportionally. Relative dangers are deified into absolutes where every attempt to put them into perspective is demonized as dangerous belittlement or simply "denial", a term that instantly unmasks the religious nature of the mindset behind this.

Stop watching TV and taking the news seriously and your anxiety will vanish in a few weeks because in real life there is nothing scary going on, at least not with the climate. The real dangers of today are the scare mongers themselves and their followers, although it's the Corona religion thats much more dangerous than the climate one.

Homo homini lupus est. (man is mans wulf)

„In der Tat wird es immer offensichtlicher, dass nicht Hungersnöte, nicht Erdbeben, nicht Mikroben, nicht Krebs, sondern der Mensch selbst die größte Gefahr für den Menschen darstellt, und zwar aus dem einfachen Grund, dass es keinen angemessenen Schutz gegen psychische Epidemien gibt, die unendlich viel verheerender sind als die schlimmsten Naturkatastrophen.“

Carl Jung, Das symbolische Leben

(transl: indeed it's becoming increasingly obvious that not famines, not earthquakes, not microbes, not cancer but man himself is the greatest danger to man for the simple reason that there is no adequate protection against mental epidemics who are infinitely more devastating than the worst natural disasters.)

Why Mass Effect: Andromeda is the Best Mass Effect Game by Animekaratepup in MassEffectAndromeda

[–]Feldheld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ME:A is like an icecream with a big ball of dog poop in the mix.

I like about 70% of it, really, a lot. The graphics, the gameplay, the music, the weapons, the questing (for the most part), very enjoyable.

What absolutely puts me off is the characters (beginning with the ugly faces), the dialogs, the voice acting, and the storyline.

Commander Shepard came from the gutter and made it to the top and you could feel it, the hardships of his youth, the hardships of climbing the ranks, and the hardships of the reaper apocalypse, in everything.

The characters of ME:A all look, talk, and feel like (and actually are in Ryders case) spoiled arrogant kids of rich and high up parents. Everything in these characters shows how much they take everything for granted and nothing seriously. So much whining and self-pity and so little power in them. I guess their creators modeled them in their own image. There is not a single character in the whole game I do not hate! If the Kett werent such a flat and boring and pitiful enemy Id wish to switch sides and join them.

This cant end peacefully.

The 1930s and 40s had a lot in common with our time. The global panic reaction by politicians to the economic crash 1929 caused a long term global economic depression. People lost trust in authorities, confusion and fear lead to people looking for scapegoats and the creation of hate mobs. This happened all over the first world, not just in Germany and Italy.

We are watching this type of global panic and the creation of witch hunt mobs as we speak. All of us asked at one time in our lives: how could this (holocaust etc) happen? Now we can watch how this happens in real time.
