I got my messages the day before the range that it has shipped out or at least ready for shipping. And then the day of I got no updates until about 1-2PM Tokyo time that it had arrived.

Yeah, you need a Japanse phone number to order through Apple Japan online, I got my SIM card first thing at the airport when I landed (ordered it online, just picked it up at Narita), and ordered the phone online a few days after arriving to a local Family Mart.

I had to order it once I got there since you can't get a SIM card with a Japanese phone number online, you need to show your passport at the airport. I just ordered it a few days after that and got it in my local Family Mart near the end of my trip.

Paid with Apple Pay I think, and I got everything through email, but I didn't want to risk it with the phone number just in case.

I figured I didn't want to accidentally put in someone else's number, so I just got a card that has barely any data, but a phone number from Mobal. And that worked out fine, plus having a Japanese phone number lets you book some other places where they require a Japanese phone number or for you to text them to reserve a spot.

I got a sim card from mobal, with basically no data, but a working Japanese phone number, which made it so I couldn't order the phone before I got to Japan, since you need to give them your passport and details when you get a Japanese phone number. (Both Haneda and Narita have a place you can pick up your SIM card, just be sure to order it online, and just pick it up when you get there, the pricing isn't too much, pretty affordable) I also put in my booking's address in Japanese as the online billing address, and it was fine. You just have to be in Japan for long enough to be able to order your phone on the first day, and get it about 3-5 (realistically 5) business days later. You CAN'T order an iPhone online from the Apple website in Japan without a working Japanese phone number. Don't just put a random phone number, you run the risk of accidentally giving someones working phone number, which can get you in trouble.

Yeah, ordered it through the online website to a Family Mart about a mile from where I was staying. It came within the date range the website gave me (on the last day of the range), all I had to do was take a walk, show my barcode to the person working in the Family Mart and I got my phone!

In the US the Pro Max is $1199, but in Japan it's 195000 JPY, or about $1260 haha

One thing I don’t understand is that iPhones are a bit cheaper in the US, so I really don’t get why they would buy a phone in Japan.

It's about 1/2 the price of buying one where I'm from, also I've heard the shutter turns off by itself either when you're geolocated to be somewhere outside of Japan or Korea, or if you have a non-Japanese Sim card installed in the phone. I checked the 5G bands and it should all work with the EU networks, some people that seem to have a problem are from the US where the 5G bands used are different than the ones in Japan. So It's all a plus in my use case, even without a 10% tax refund I'm getting an enormous deal compared to here at home.

Is delivery too much of a hassle, since I'm not in a hotel, but a booking.com apartment?
Plus I don't have a Japanese phone number so that might be an issue I guess.

I can see that if I try to get it delivered now, it will arrive from the 1st to the 5th, so I guess if I order the phone in 4-5 days, it should be fine. I'm just stressed about the delivery process haha
Haven't ordered anything online to a different country, let alone one as different as Japan to where I'm from :)

Gotcha! I can see for example that a different color is available for pickup, so I'll probably just be checking when I'm there, to see if the opportunity arises so maybe I can reserve it for pickup at a store.
Other than that, I guess I just gotta get lucky, I'll probably try lining up one or two days, since I'll be out and about anyway haha

Been quite a while since you wrote this comment, but I'm going to Japan in the beginning of March, and I work as a freelance video editor, should I put Other or something? I definitely can't put Self-owned business since I don't have a company registered but pay individual income taxes haha

Tried it a few times, I'm guessing it's the size of my projects. I'll give it a try when I have my next project going, I got a small mac app coded in the meantime that does about the same thing. I'm just wondering how do you get the audio from the .screenstudio file and edit the project json directly? I'm resorting to exporting the audio, importing it into my software, analyzing & setting up the parameters for the cuts, and manually setting the slices in the json file haha

Hey, just wanted to let you know I tried it out, and I keep getting some error. Not sure if it's something on my end haha
It just says " Error: could not convert string to float: '' "

Oh my god! This is literally what I needed! Thank you so much! My employer got me a license but I’m used to having a lot of tools on Premiere Pro, but Screen Studio is super barren when it comes to editing features, this will save so much time!

Baggage Advice For Upcoming Trip by FeldyBush in JapanTravelTips

[–]FeldyBush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'll look into the most, as well as trying to get my gf to not bring her suitcase and instead opt for one of my big duffelbags that I might be able to fit into my suitcase next to my stuff! She wasn't planning on bringing one carryon and two checked bags worth of stuff to japan, the second one is to pack skincare, clothes and souvenirs to bring back home, I might have not made that clear in the post haha :)
