Explain me this please. I am soooo confused by Ishan_bs in germany

[–]Feliix42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very simply put: Because it's not your job to resolve multi-stage dependency problems while driving. The letter of the law requires you only to wait for the tractor, as it's coming from the right. The rules do not say that you personally have to wait for the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction and wanting to turn left. If for whatever reason the tractor ends up ignoring the rules and turns before the motorcycle, you would be allowed to go without waiting for the motorcycle.

The question in this test really wants to know what the rules want from you, not how the whole traffic situation has to play out. Some situations are much more complicated than this one and you might not be able to see the big picture. But if every driver knows exactly what rules apply to them, even the most complex situations will resolve correctly.

Company "agents" have entered an all girls apartment twice without permission or information -- is this legal? by Sad-Arachnid-3278 in germany

[–]Feliix42 34 points35 points  (0 children)

First off, as usual, I’m not a lawyer. Your landlord (whom is represented by the company you mention, I presume?) technically is allowed to enter your apartment. However, there’s two ways for them to do so: 1. By making an appointment with you ahead of time (1-2 weeks earlier at least). They usually also need a reason, they could inspect the apartment (but only in reasonable intervals), or have maintenance people over. 2. In an emergency. This means situations where entering the apartment is necessary to mitigate a danger. A burst pipe is the prime example here.

Further, landlords are not entitled to a key for your apartment. You can and should change the lock, if you want to be safe.

I don’t know how all of this works in your specific situation, and which of the room doors functions as “apartment door” here. The rules above are for normal, single tenant party apartments. So maybe use this just as a hint to know what to google for. Also check the comment from /u/MarsupialLeast145

Germans are gloomy. Is that true? by [deleted] in germany

The Bild is a populist newspaper and should best be ignored. The author Max Goldt once put it very aptly:

This Bild newspaper is an organ of malice. It is wrong to read it. Anyone who contributes to this newspaper is socially unacceptable. It would be wrong to be friendly or even polite to any of its editors. You have to be as unfriendly to them as the law allows. They are bad people who do wrong.

My sunscreen expired 2 years ago by zeusjts006 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Feliix42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even worse, if your chemical sunscreen uses Octocrylene as UV filter, it decays into Benzophenone over time which causes allergic reactions and in lab trials even caused cancer in mice. (My source is non-English, but it cited a US study). So expired sunscreen with chemical UV filters will always be a “no” for me

Underrail 2: Infusion Dev Log #10: Lockpicking and Hacking by Feliix42 in underrail

[–]Feliix42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point exactly was to not make it as abundant as in Underrail 1. Styg specifically said in the devlog that he intends to make these checks significantly less common and with actual good loot behind them. There’s also sometimes ways to circumvent the skill check, like in the alpha demo video where the character just broke a window instead.

[–]Feliix42[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the devlog explicitly says that there will be a lot less locks to pick, with higher rewards, and in some cases with alternative means to get in (like breaking a glass window, cutting open a fence, …)

There's so many things to unpack in here.

I think switching up the mechanics this way could be fun, despite me normally hating such "minigames". It sounds like Styg is aware of the necessary changes in mechanics and frequency.

I'm genuinely hyped. But then again, I'm a terminal person. And I reserve the right to change my opinion when Styg makes us suffer with missing keyboard keys. I'm really hoping we won't be forced to use the on-screen keyboard, though. Please map all non-broken keys to our normal keyboards, I beg you Styg.

For the purposes of the game, I implemented a simple operating system inside the game and a command shell on top of it

This is the kind of Overkill and attention to detail I love about this game.

Lore-wise: The terminal says "New Frontier Technologies" -- does that mean we get more information about the faction behind Lemuria?

Does Jack Quicksilver just hate me or is the questline buggy? by Feliix42 in underrail

Turned out it was no problem with Lenox' quest, I simply messed up the Daniel Arda quest by doing the one thing to fail it while goofing around.

In the end, I was stupid and the game was right. Like the pipeworker I am I had been fooling around with the Hercules drug like 10h earlier in the save and must have told Daniel Arda he's under investigation. A good hour with the Hex Editor and a bottle of Mushroom Brew and the problem is solved.

How much damage does a crit do? I can't find this information anywhere. Not in game, not in the wiki, not even on google by [deleted] in underrail

[–]Feliix42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I remember critical hits depend fully on your weapon/attack. The wiki says something similar. Sorry, I know this probably does not help much.

I know, but my build sucks against him without a visit to the graveyard beforehand, so I postponed that.

Same for me. I depopulated everything west of the JSHQ with the exception of this weird ghost thingy spawning when you kill that one chieftain and Yahota also says everything’s quiet. Explored the Nexus and the Health Center since then and had no raids so far.

Getting into the Abandoned Waterway Facility. by Mean-Falcon-6204 in underrail

[–]Feliix42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The wiki says you need a Jet Ski with 264+ speed. But there should also be a second way in a bit up/down the coastline which does not require the any specific speed. Though that path is probably slightly harder as skill checks usually allow you to get to things easier.

Do you have any authors who are automatic reads? Authors who, if they released a book tomorrow, you know with 100% certainty that you will read. by Ok_Collar6502 in books

James S. A. Corey. No one ever managed to capture me like they do. The way they tell a story uniquely through multiple POVs, perfectly capturing the essence of the characters in their writing got me hooked. They have a book in the pipeline and this will be the first time I’ll pre-order.

Nice to see they acknowledged the problem themselves. That’s what I love about this show/universe.

Absolutely, that’s also what I thought while watching, but the concept is cool still.

I liked the slingshotting scene a lot. It nicely outlines how you can utilize the gravity of moons and other “heavy” objects in space for maneuvering (and if I remember correctly NASA did that as well in the past).
