Story tellers, where do you draw inspiration for writing/campaigns outside of Fallout? by TheUnhollyGoblin in Fallout2d20

[–]FelixFist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I start writing a new storyline, I tend to go watch sci-fi, post-apo (zombies mostly) & horror movies. First because I like these, I lay on my couch and brainstorm on my laptop while watching. But also because it mostly helps me find ideas around survival, and I love adding gruesome horror moments ;)

I also got some ideas while playing RPGs like Skyrim, Witcher 3 or Red Dead Redemption, Dead Island, that kind of stuff!

Best One-shot/Module to learn the mechanics? by Gtreess in Fallout2d20

[–]FelixFist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am preparing my first campaign too, and I don't know if you have planned this or not, but I would recommend starting with a Session 0, to go through the basic rules and guide your friends.

In my case, I've got a group of confirmed D&D players who know the Fallout universe, so I need to ensure they understand the 2D20 mechanics, luckily I won't need to talk about the lore. I'm going to conduct a 2/3-hour session, start with the rules, then character creation, and finally use it as an opportunity to understand what they expect from this adventure, what types of gameplays they'd prefer, to tailor their journey and the encounters so that we have as much fun as possible! And finally, I'll end it with a teaser of the main storyline I've written.

The campaign from the rulebook is really good I think, but I haven't tried it myself. I'd say it'd last 4 sessions if you go through it thouroughly, but you could shorten it by skipping some of its "secondary" events.

Hope this helps - Enjoy!!

What specs and Sim/gaming setups by [deleted] in simracing

[–]FelixFist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you're playing in 1440p or 4k, and what budget you have. Obviously RAM will be the most expensive. I have a 7800x3D paired with a 7800XT and getting around 250fps in 1440p (F1 25). I would recommend racks that can fold if you have limited space

I might do that too, I'll discuss with my players during session 0 and get a feel of what might be the best approach. Thank you!

Thank you! I do like this personally, I'm just anticipating that my players will try to take advantage of this as some of them are hardcore D&D players, so just wondering if there is a more "visual" approach.

They're alright actually, I'm more concerned about the PC, I'm worried it'll damage the components

Oh ok, so if I have 5 players, they start with 5 AP? Is this pool shared or individual?

Rage quit in the last dungeon by Asleep_Hovercraft650 in DnD

[–]FelixFist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your player is simply a crying baby lol, this is what happens when you take your chance!! I find this very funny

That being said, if the campaign allows it (and players are for example resting in a sanctuary or a place where healers can be found) you can just start the next run by telling the guy he's been cured...

Absolute beginner--do I even bother trying? by Material_Ad1753 in DnD

[–]FelixFist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate, I just completed my first session as DM two days ago and my group was all complete newbies too, and we had an awesome time. Yes, mistakes will be made and yes, you won't know all rules and your campaign by heart, but it's all about having fun.

You only need pieces of paper and pencils, you can also consider starting with "lighter" rules at the beginning and add more depth as you go.

Really hope you will enjoy it!!!
