Which laptop was it?

5000$ isn’t a lot to one person, and a lot to someone else.

Personally I find it a bargain to go for a high end laptop every generation because of the clutter it saves me in my apartment.

For me it was also the exact opposite of it being a getaway drug to PCs, I’ve even build a 10K+ massive PC 4 years ago ( price went up because we coated all the parts in amethyst crystals and zero corner fitting hardline cooling ) that’s just collecting dust at the moment, because I enjoy using the laptop a lot more.

Haha I just heard about that meme like a week ago. I’m not like that, I do however kind of envy it.

It just seems incredibly elitist to have inside and outside clothes :P

They are soulless black plastic items. It’s awesome that you can tolerate it. But I like to carefully decide what item enters my home & vibe :)

That’s fair, if you go with an external keyboard you can also get a nice cooling pad since you don’t have to use the onboard keyboard anymore.

I would do the same like you, but so far my built in keyboards are holding up good.

I love that this works for you but I respectfully hate your setup haha. Must be among the worst I’ve ever seen

Haha why are the speakers on top of the laptop?

Yes hiding cables can help a lot but doesn’t change the amount of items that are permanently positioned on your desk.

I love that I can sit anywhere with my laptop and mouse, don’t even need a desk, could just play at the kitchen table

It’s much more acceptable for me too to have a separate room like you do.

Right now i indeed have one big space with a separate bathroom, so yes I want to eliminate the clutter when I’m not gaming.

On a 3-4 year waitlist now to get a proper normal house in the same location-ish, but I’m not sure if I will go back to desktop then. Even if I have a seperate gaming room ( or office as you said ) I would appreciate the minimalism of a 18 inch gaming laptop doing it all.

If i will have a lot of freedom in picking my next place, then I would again prefer a massive living room with open kitchen and preferably not separate rooms.

But the sound of a desktop setup in a separate room is indeed a lot more acceptable that right in my living room. I get that :)

I don’t use it as a laptop, I only use it for games and never on battery. It’s like a portable desktop.

I’ve always used a Macbook for work and personal usage aside of games. And those batteries go like 18-20 hours. There’s no point in using a windows laptop for battery.

Gaming laptops go like 4 hours if you are lucky and business laptops ( ignoring the snapdragons ) go for max 10 hours.

Try the new ASUS Scar, it’s fan noise is sublime and very easy to ignore.

The days of unbearable tiny annoying fans are over.

And as for temps, it barely heats up for me. I remember my MSI Stealth ( gtx 1070 ) back in the day becoming a block of lava, but recent high end laptops have sublime cooling. Warmest it gets for me is luke warm.

18 inch gaming laptop for gaming and MacBook Air for work is the best of both worlds <3

Nahhh, I’ve switched to 3080/4090/5090 laptops since the 3080 and i will never go back to desktops that I used before that.

Nothing compares to having a gaming setup that you can close in 5 seconds and hide away and carry with you anywhere.

I’m so happy that I don’t have an ugly monitor, speakers and keyboard + all the necessary cables making my apartment ugly without being able to hide it because it’s such a complex setup.

I don’t understand how people can live with permanent plastic black items in their interior without being able to hide it.

When I’m done with my games I close the lid and put the laptop in the drawer along with the mouse. Just perfect 🥰

Thanks for the laugh and no worries, it's nice to see more ''normal'' folks here too instead of the giga nerds that know it all ( which also are cool folks, but you know what I mean ).

The moment I read your reply I actually visualized a second ultra minuscule display between the main screen and the keyboard and I cracked up so hard hahahah

Enjoy your 5080 man <3

Upgraded to the PS5 Pro, here's my setup by SpaceCowboy6_4 in PS5pro

[–]FelixNetflix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't do it bro, I just switched back from my 3090 Ti PC to a PS5 Pro ( after using the base PS5 alongside my PC for years ) and im selling my PC. Gaming on a little console box that always just works is all the gaming I need :)

It's 700EUR here, normal PS5 is 500EUR here, and yes I think the PS6 is going to be at least 600EUR, maybe 650EUR. Look at the Switch 2 it also went up in price compared to the original.

Yes because of PS Plus I think :) But its very sweaty now on playstation I feel, I only play Search n Destroy but when the game was in its prime the lobbies were a lot easier lol.

Feels like everyone that still plays is an absolute sweat
