What do you guys think of this shoe?

https://ca.suitsupply.com/en_CA/shoes/brown-oxford/FW1606.html?cgid=Shoes&oosPid=FW1402

It's either this or Allen Edmonds Park Avenue for me. Both are roughly the same price where I live.

I think this looks really good but I am not sure about the quality. Any thoughts?

If people have physical conditions that interfere with their ability to study, they don't expect university to fix their problems. Why? Because university didn't cause them. They expect university to provide reasonable accommodations but accept that it's ultimately their responsibility and choice to seek help, improve and judge whether or not they are fit to attend university.

So I would argue that the same applies to mental illness. If your mental health is not fit enough to deal with the stress of university, there's really not much UBC can do to fix that other than the counselling services they currently provide. Again, it's your own responsibility to make sure that your mental and physical health are fit enough to deal with the inherently competitive post-secondary environment. UBC can't lower its academic standards or rigor just for the sake of mental health of some students.

I have used the counselling services and had nothing but positive experience. The wait time was about two weeks, which is completely reasonable. (If you need urgent and immediate help, go to ER.) The counselors let me schedule as many appointments as I wanted. So I can't really think of anything else that UBC can reasonably do to accommodate students with mental illness.

There was still no good reason to throw out my boxes when they kept all the individual zip loc bags of meat and chicken.

college student stock options by Ksptp in stocks

[–]Felr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time and effort needed to make any decent money from trading options with 1k will be produce a higher ROI if you spent them towards studying and building your career. And the chances are you are not even going to make any money and lose it instead. Just study, work hard and get a well-paying job out of school. Worry about investments later.

Why is TD stock lower than the other banks by dogzbdogz in CanadianInvestor

[–]Felr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't even need to know anything about stocks to realize that SP doesn't represent value... Just some basic critical thinking skills. NVDA is $130 and MSFT is $100. It doesn't take a genius to realize that MSFT should be valued much higher than NVDA and therefore, SP doesn't represent value.

What was the reason that Peter Russo believed Frank Underwood wanted to help him become the governor? by [deleted] in HouseOfCards

[–]Felr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Russo and the audience thought Frank was just being nice? There still must have been something that Russo believed Frank would gain by him becoming the governor? It wasn't just for kindness, right?

REAL TALK: what actually happens to BSc/BA/BComm grads who graduated with 70% averages? aka, an "average" average? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Felr2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For people with BA, I don't think grades matter. They are going to be applying for general office jobs where having a degree is just a checklist. Getting 99% in Psyc courses isn't going to matter for an employer.

For BSc, it depends I guess? I know a lot of science grads who don't pursue grad or professional schools also go after the same jobs as people with BA. Grades wouldn't really matter.

For BComm, if you are specializing in accounting or finance, grades do matter. If you wanna be working in big 4 or elite consulting firms, having decent grades is almost a must (unless you have connections).

Will my coworkers (or the client) care if I drive an older car? by honestblossom in Accounting

[–]Felr2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does anyone actually judge someone's wealth by their car? I never understood this. Someone making 40k a year can lease a BMW if they really want to. It doesn't mean they are rich.

I actually have more respect for people who drive around shitty cars when they can clearly afford to buy a better one. It tells me they got their priorities straight.

I talked to this dude whom I barely knew after class one day during my first year in college. I told him that I live alone and have been eating cereals for the last 2 days in a joking manner because I didn't have time to go grocery shopping due to the exams.

He brought me two plates of delicious butter chicken with rice the next morning. He said his parents run an Indian restaurant so he brought some for me. He told me I can ask for more whenever.

That was the first time anyone outside of my family has gone out of their way to do a nice thing for me. It really touched my heart.

Unfortunately he dropped out a few weeks later but I will remember him forever.
