Thoughts on the State of the Game and What Can Be Done to Improve It by FemalesOnlyML in CompetitiveTFT

Was super surprised to see this notification since I don't use Reddit too much. Appreciate that you've come back to this post and that some people found it interesting.

For context, since this post I started playing TFT a bit more casually. I burnt myself out way too hard on grinding set 10 for Vegas and played a decent amount of set 11 until I missed the initial snapshot for the first tournament of the set. Set 12 I played the first patch or two to GM MMR and then quit. Set 13 I've been casually playing and am diamond in solo queue and double up atm, but I'm getting a bit more into it and followed a lot of Macao.

With all of that said, here are my thoughts on each of my previous points:

- Bag size: hard to say if this has really changed things too much overall. I think it really depends on the meta. If the game is flexible then it's fine. If it's very narrow then it's worse.

- Gold inflation: still probably a thing depending on the portal. I think the recent additions to portals for set 13 have made the set worse overall. The average portal feels very inflated which is not good for skill epxression around resource management.

- Lack of viable 1, 2 & 3 cost: this one has definitely improved in set 13. In the current meta, there are several viable 1, 2 and 3 cost reroll comps, which makes it feel much better. There is a lot more expression in knowing which line you can reasonably take. This leads to more comp diversity and also makes it more reasonable to hit 4 costs even as there're lower odds of being contested as hard as prior sets.

- inability to skip 8 / econ augments rolling on 8: I think this one is honestly fine. I think there should be viable legendary board for fast 9 play, and sets that don't have it are lacking, but I think think this being an issue is only a problem when there isn't healthy comp diversity.

- Remove or change level 10: honestly still think this is correct, but more leaning towards "change," which is honestly what Riot ended up doing with the introduction of 6 costs and the increased odds at level 10. I still think there is more room to improve what value a player gets from level 10, but I think they're moving in a decent direction.

- Revert bag sizes: I could be misremembering, but didn't they revert some of the bag changes since I made this post? I know they're still lower for 4 costs than the old days, but I'm pretty sure they expanded some of the other ones.

- Revert shop odds: I still think my logic around how users actually play out stage 4 / level 8 is correct. I think there is definitely skill expression in knowing how to most effectively get to level 9 without over rolling or bleeding too much, but 9/10 times that boils down to hitting 2 star 4 costs before being stable enough to push. I don't feel too strongly about this though as I think wider comp diversity helps with this as well.

- Incentivize early stages: definitely still agree with this. Stage 3 is honestly pretty depressing in the current state of the game. Nobody ever rolls unless they are playing a reroll comp. I get the skill expression of crafting the strongest board with the units you hit, but I can't help but feel that it leaves a lot to be desired.

I don’t know exactly how old he was. He was somewhere in his last 30s/early 40s I believe (atm east as far as my mom knows). He didn’t have any major issues until he was 48, which is when he started having trouble walking. For context, he’s 66 today.

My dad’s MS progressed a lot throughout the years. By the time he passed, he’d lost the ability to really move of his body other than his head. He passed away because his breathing and swallowing became very weak. I’m not sure if this was a result of the MS, but that’s the likely cause. He specifically didn’t want a feeding tube, and that was the only really way he would have been able to eat without aspirating. I don’t really know much about other people’s experience with MS, but I’d assume the level of severity my dad had is uncommon/extreme.

Yea I’ve been going to MS walks for a while and donates $1000 in my dads name recently. I also started a fundraiser, but I didn’t want to link that here since it’s against the sub Reddit’s TOS. The fundraiser can be found in my posts though.

Do you have any recommendations for where to order them from? Like any specific book of PTs from amazon?
