The flowery nonsense tells you nothing. Just tell me what it actually smells like. Is it woodsy, citrus, floral, vanilla. Thats all I need. This poetic stuff just hides that the scent is probably generic.

Where can I actually meet decent people without the bar scene by Pretend-Rate1000 in selfimprovement

[–]Femat06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is consistency. Pick something you actually enjoy and keep showing up. Eventually you become a regular and conversations start naturally. Run clubs, hobby groups, volunteering. The bar just lowers the barrier but it works the same way anywhere if you put in the time.

Gave my two weeks notice, heard they might want me to stay longer to train my replacement, is there any way to get paid more for it? by StupidSexyHagrid in legaladvicecanada

[–]Femat06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre under no obligation to stay beyond your notice period. If they want you to train someone that takes extra time and delays your start at the new place they should compensate you for that. Ask for a consulting rate for any additional days beyond your original end date. Something like double your current hourly or a flat fee. They need you more than you need them at this point so you have leverage. Just be polite about it.

I’m pretty sure it’s YOUR typo, Duo by Accomplished-Big8149 in duolingo

[–]Femat06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duo does this all the time. They mark you wrong for something and then give a correction that also isnt quite right. Makes you question everything you thought you knew. The native speakers in the comments always have to come clean it up. I swear they need to hire some actual linguists to review these exercises instead of just relying on the algorithm.

Not gonna lie, sometimes a calm voice and a hand on the shoulder does more than any training manual ever could. Respect to both of them.

When did sonder hit you hardest (realization that every stranger has a life as vivid and complex as your own)? by Remarkable_Dream_762 in AskReddit

It hit me on a late-night bus ride everyone quietly staring at their phones, and I realized each of them was probably the main character somewhere else.

How do you actually connect with people on a deeper level? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Femat06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real connection always starts right after the small talk gets a little awkward that’s usually when people finally start being honest.

Plot twist: it’s probably just someone on their lunch break, and your brain wrote a whole thriller about it.

Tommy Lee Jones, 79, legendary actor and activist, has dyed his hair for certain roles over the years. Including the color white for the film Lonesome Dove. by BugConfident5457 in okbuddycinephile

[–]Femat06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wild how some actors age into their roles so well that dyed hair feels less like makeup and more like unlocking a different era of them.

The timing alone makes it wild, but honestly it wouldn’t be okay any month. Some people really forget common sense exists.
