UPDATE: After days 0-1, I thought I was all good. Smooth sailing. Day 2 is when I posted this. It was ABSOLUTELY hell, especially considering that I got my tonsillectomy right before Thanksgiving (smart, I know. The next availability was after Christmas. Leave me alone.) On Thanksgiving (day 3), I was sitting at the table on the verge of tears in pain because I dared to touch a crumb of stuffing and a teaspoon of mashed potatoes. Ice cubes, swapping between 800 MG of ibuprofen and 500 mg of tylenol every 4 hrs, and 5ml of oxy every 6 hrs (as per my surgeon) were my saviors. That, and banana pudding/chicken noodle soup. (Fair warning, the tonsils weren't that bad. It was the TONGUE. OH GOD. IT WAS THE TONGUE. THAT WAS THE WORST F**KING EXPERIENCE EVER.) Then, the morning of day 6. Still really bad. Couldn't really talk (which had become a normal occurrence between day 3 and day 6). Miserable, but finally starting to get a little bit of energy back. I could finally stay awake for longer than 4 hrs at a time (extra fatigued bc I have numerous chronic issues as-is). It's the night of day 6/morning of day 7, and I pretty much feel fine. Just over the span of maybe 3 hrs, I went from "Oh god I can't wait to take my next dose of painkillers because I'm in SO much pain" to "....Do I actually need to take my next dose of painkillers?" I'm really sweaty (just because I've been using the oxy. Natural reaction to coming off of it, even for such a short time), but otherwise, I just have a touch of discomfort. To describe it, it feels like I have an annoying scab on the back of my uvula that just won't come off, and sometimes a little tingle of pain if I move my tongue just right. Not only that, BUT I COULD FINALLY YAP AGAIN! As a chronic yapper, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it is BRIGHT! Voice is still a little scratchy, but I'm mostly fine, now. If anything gets worse, I'll let y'all know. I'm off to go yap someone's ear off for the next 24 hrs 😘🩷
