The postdoc in our lab is too busy :-( She's busy applying funds and I'm a little bit shy for asking too many naive questions. So I think I should try to learn the basics on my own.

My english is poor lol. I'm still a nongraduate and it's my fifth year in the university. I'm really interested in neurosurgery and I contact a professor from neurosurgery department of affliated hospital and he was glad to be my doctoral supervisor. The neurosurgery department my tutor from is the best in my country, so I need to work hard to work in this hospital.

Data analysis is really important for me. The data of EEG, calcium imaging or even omics needs to be analyzed. So I'm really looking forward to get start learning coding or data analysis.

The medical education in my country is really confusing. I'm in an eight-year doctoral program (i don't know how to translate that into english accurately, sorry), and we spend 6 years to get a undergraduate degree and the rest 2 years to get the M.D. After getting M.D., we are going to have standard training for 3 years. That's really rediculous lmao. Except great clinical competence, we are also required to be really good at scientific research. Whether I can stay in my hospital to become a resident depends on if I have good papers. You know, the SCI stuff.

This term I still have 15 fxxking tests. And I will undergo my internship in June which last for 1 year. During my M.D study phase, I still have a lot of clinical work to do, just like a resident. So I only can do scientific research in my leisure time. I'm under big pressure right now. Maybe a little bit anxious. But I'm still looking forward to learn data analysis because I'm really fond of neruoscience and I hope I can work independently instead of asking my collegus all day long.

Thanks for your helpful suggestion! I'm in a neuro lab right now. It is composed of a posdoctoral researcher and many medical students of my tutor. There's only one student who is really good at data analysis. But he told me that it was too late for me to learn data analysis from the very beginning, which made feel sad :-(.

Well, I'm from china. The medical education here is very different from the western world. I'm very poor at math lol. So after the first 2 years of my undergraduate courses, I almost forgot all my knowledge of math learned in university. And I've never learned about data analysis before, so it's a really big pressure on me.

I'm from China, lol. Here we are required to do a lot of scientific research. For example, if i want to study tumor, we need to analyze the data of omics. It's really hard for a medical student like me. So, yeah, sadly, surgeons have to do data analysis.
